The talk of the 1SE app at the start reminded me that Dave's recommendation & praise of that app is actually the reason I started doing my 1SE on March 14th, 2014. My video is now 3,827 snippets long and growing (63+ minutes). Thanks, Dave (and Caesar)! Bringing up The Search for General Tso was also quite the throwback. I was living in Chengdu, China at the time this episode aired and I found ways of watching the movie there (shhhhh), good movie!

Devindra's review on Only Lovers Left Alive made me go out and see it at the theater. This was a great episode and as someone who hasn't missed an episode since Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, I wouldn't be opposed to hearing more of these older episodes again. Even after 15 years I still want more 😅

2024-09-04 00:54:45 +0000 UTCDunno if anyone paid attention to the Summer Movie Wager, but it's over and we have a winner. I won't spoil it, but people who are curious can easily look it up. This was an exceptionally close one, literally coming down to the last day, as only one point separated the top two finishers, and the winner was ultimately decided by whether Alien Romulus would top The Fall Guy for that 10th spot. AR is going to vastly out gross TFG when its run is over, but it only had until yesterday to see if it could get there and it came up a little over $1 million short. So here were the top 10 movies of the summer: 1. Inside Out 2 2. Deadpool & Wolverine 3. Despicable Me 4 4. Twisters 5. Bad Boys Ride or Die 6. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes 7. A Quiet Place Day One 8. It Ends With Us 9. If 10. The Fall Guy Alien Romulus will pass TFG in a day or two, but it was just a couple days too late. Totally curious to hear what the winner subjects everyone to this year 😂

When Dave played the AI deepfake voices of the three of you, I remember thinking it really missed the mark on Dave and Devindra. Now I realize it NAILED the two of them from a decade ago!

Also a huge plug for my friend and former coworker - Cesar Kuriyama who Jeff references in the Chef review. This was a great first episode for am multitude of reasons.
