PROJECT: New Wagon, Who Dis?

Listen, I made a whole tiny (1 minute long) video about this which Patreon won't let me embed here but you can go watch it on my Instagram:

Matt and I inherited this wagon from our neighbors. Obviously, it is part its prime, but it still technically rolled so I got some use out of it. Now, though, the wheels are flat and past the point of being able to retain fresh air pumped into them. We very nearly included it in our run to the dump last week, but Matt saw potential in her so she was saved.

First challenge was to break through the rust to remove these busted-ass wheels. It took some determination but we got 'em.

Once freed of its spider-and-tetanus-infested wheels, this freewheelin' wagon got its first wash in, like, I can't even imagine how many years.

All the nuts and bolts in this guy were rusted in place, so rather than properly remove all the hardware first to access the body, we just painted right over them. First a coat of black paint on the underside:

Followed by a red coat.

While I was out Matt got the brand new wheels back on. I found them online first, so that was my contribution to this part. And then next thing you know, voila!

 It's a wagon!

 Lookit this sweet ride!

It's got this cool dumper action! So you can load up big old piles of dirt or bricks and then just pull this lever and dump-o. No throwing your back out to repetitively unload your dirt and/or bricks!

So yeah! Welcome to the new addition to our family! Now go watch us make it in one minute!

I DIDN'T EITHER UNTIL AFTER WE PAINTED IT. I'd always just tipped the entire thing on its end in order to empty loads. But then I was taking pictures of the revamped wagon and Matt suggests I get some showing off the dumping action and I was like !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heck yeah for repairing!

The Ferret

I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE DUMPER ACTION!! THAT'S SO COOL!

Always feels good to repair rather than replace. I like the dump action! If the wheels kick up in front if it's heavily loaded and you lift the "body", put a foot on the piece that the "handle" connects to the front wheels (and bend your knees when you lift! How many times do we have to tell you!?) Looks great!
