Also, my guess on the 'sister's eyes' line is that I feel like he saw his sister cry so many times over the abuse when it was happening, and he may have had to be the 'strong one' and hold it together. So when he finally did break down about what had happened, he saw his sister's eyes that had cried over it a million times because his own eyes never did.

To answer your question, yes! That is the actual sheet music for the song if you were to play it on piano (bottom two staves) and the top staff is for vocals. The second staff is for guitar if you were to read sheet music instead of tabs. I thought this was a beautiful lyric video for a beautifully heartbreaking song. Hands down my favorite.

I think the sister line to me is just that he “has his father’s eyes” but he when he cries he has his sister’s eyes, probably because he never saw his father cry but had to watch her cry

It is actually the other way around “runaway fathers and mothers who drank” I think he was either referring to the other person’s parents in astronomy, or just saying his mother drank because of his dad’s abuse

The lyrics you were thinking about were “with runaway mothers and fathers who drank” so even in Astronomy the dad was the drunk and the mother was the one who left

I think your interpretation of the ‘sisters eyes when i cry’ is probably the one he was going with. I also think it could be that his father may have said something along the lines of ‘don’t cry. Don’t be a girl, don’t be like your sister’ when he’d get emotional. So when he cries he still thinks he has his sister eyes. I actually think jig saw, family line and summer child are all about his family. Changing himself to fit what he thought they wanted.

This song is so important to so many people, and he delivered it beautifully, I can only imagine how hard it was to write. It’s crazy to think when he was doing YouTube nobody could see what he was going through as he hid it so well with his personality, I’m glad he’s in a safer environment now after so many years
