i totally get what you mean, her sound isn't necessarily the kind of thing i usually listen to (but then again how would it be, bc her sound is so unique to her imo) so I don't listen to her music on repeat but I do like to stream some of her songs from time to time (some of them i really love) and i find this album so impressive. Like I said, her style is so unique, I really really appreciate when artists bring something different and she does that really well. Even when you're not a big fan, I think she's one of those artists that you really wanna see succeed

2022-09-24 18:37:43 +0000 UTCI hope you continue with Melanie and her 2nd album because she continues the character crybabys story and the messages using childhood themes as much as I grew up with this album with k-12 you can just see how much she's grown as an artist regardless of her staying very true to this same style. their is a film that goes along with k-12 herself consisting of the music videos, definitely hope you check that out. I just love how her mind works.

2022-09-24 03:56:39 +0000 UTCMad Hatter is a TON of Alice in Wonderland references, which would make some of this make sense. Idk how much you know about the preface of Alice in Wonderland, but basically Alice 'falls asleep' and goes into this crazy world. When she 'wakes up' (it makes you think it's possible it was all real), the older girl she was with (I can't remember if it's her sister or not) tells her she was making it up. The Mad Hatter is a character who is just...generally insane. It derives from the phrase 'Mad as a Hatter' because back when Hatters were still a thing, they were using chemicals that had made some go crazy. So the Mad Hatter character in Alice in Wonderland is a generally non-sensical and nutsy guy. One of my favorite references is: 'we paint white roses red, each shade from a different person's head'. The Queen of Hearts had demanded all the white roses be painted red. And when things didn't go her way, she commanded they be beheaded. There are a bunch of other references in there too! Edit: This is one of my favorite songs by far for the beat alone. So damn good.
