Little Tiny Things p.12

Before anyone tries to find where exactly this can of french ravioli comes from, don't bother with searching, I made it up ;)

But what I didn't make up is Pia's disappointment, hah!

(sorry pia, this first chapter ain't going easy on you)

closed can + hungry person + hammer + chisel = disaster waiting to happen

Oh nooooooo - I've had corks like that!

Yajoovya

I had a similar problem, but with a bottle of wine I got to celebrate moving out... Had to use a knife to cut the cork, it was a mess!

"Légumes" just means vegetables in french, so it doesn't have to be beans in there :)

clover

I just want to know what kind of beans they put in ravioli.

What are you talking about? There's a pot AND pan on the floor, which means you had to take them out of their boxes and put them there and your box for kitchen ware is open and other side of the room. You didn't forget them, you just space-headed man!

If you are good enough, have a Hammer, and old chisel of some kind you don't mind getting damaged then will work. Other thing is check if a Multi tool/Swiss army knife has a crappy basic can opener on it.

i love that you don't use a ruler even for architectural elements and furniture, and instead allow objects and perspectives to dance around just a bit. i took drawing lessons as a teenager, and my teacher once told me "there are no straight lines in the human body", and for some reason that sort of stuck with me ^^. And i'm bringing this up because i think the effect here is that everything seems somewhat organic, the house in particular seems to breathe, seems to possess uniqueness, personality. it's not in your face, it's not some sort of explicit, inescapable magical realism, but it feels like the world that Pia moves in (at least for now we've basically only seen it through her eyes) is full of wonder, and tenderness, and a little bit of zaniness =) I wouldn't be surprised if she started talking to objects, or to the house itself, the way she talks to insects. ...Like that mug in the last panel which is clearly making fun of her.

*grooooan* A can-opener is another little tiny thing that makes all the difference. More good use of space and panel size here!

Yajoovya

Same for me. I just didn't notice until I read your comment (:

Pia is not having a good day <3

I don’t know if this was intentional, but the path that my eye is directed on this page went from bottom of the first panel, up and along the right like normal, then in the final panel, backwards towards the left side of the page, which symbolically mirrors the plot of Pia making progress (finding the ravioli) then losing that progress and going back to where we started (realizing she can’t open it) Very nice composition!
