TIMELAPSE OF THE FUTURE: A Journey to the End of Time

The universe is just getting started. This experience takes us on a journey to the end of time, trillions of years into the future, to discover what the fate of our planet and our universe may ultimately be. This is a picture of the future as painted by modern science - a picture that will surely evolve over time as we dig for more clues to how our story will unfold.

To me, this overhead view of time gives us a profound perspective: we are living inside the hot flash of the Big Bang, the perfect moment to soak in the sights and sounds of a universe in its glory days, before it all fades away. And although the end will eventually come, we have a practical infinity of time to play with if we play our cards right. The future may look bleak, but we have enormous potential as a species.

As supporters, I welcome your feedback on this creation.  This is the first truly long form piece for the web, and despite the grimness of the topic, this was a joy to create.

Featuring the voices of David Attenborough, Craig Childs, Brian Cox, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Michelle Thaller, Lawrence Krauss, Michio Kaku, Mike Rowe, Phil Plait, Janna Levin, Stephen Hawking, Sean Carroll, Alex Filippenko, and Martin Rees.

Thanks to Protocol Labs for their support of this creation: https://protocol.ai/

I'd love to buy this album. Do you have a dedicated place where you sell music?

Jeff Diamond

there is no BTS for this video, but if you DM I can get you the soundtrack.

John Boswell

what happened to the soundtrack and behind the scenes?

Ze Chair

This is my absolute favorite video on YouTube, which is saying something considering they have a few to pick from.

Amazing work. You are a passionate and we feel that. Just one quick question: will you realize more wallpapers of that video ? I can't get enough of your art :)

This is one of the most beautiful and humbling and existential creations I've ever experienced; thank you till the end of time :)

Ali Akın Kurnaz

This is art :) Edit: Still my favorite video in existence :)

ISPY4ever

Just a question, should the collision between the andromeda galaxy and ours included? Sounds it is a big event

I saw it on youtube and just had to support you on here, even if it's only a small tier. It's so incredibly beautiful! Especially the pacing...one moment I'm incredibly sad about how empty the universe is becoming, the next I get excited about the possibility of intelligent life creating new universes - just perfect pacing to keep the attention and emotions high <3 So excited with what you'll come up with in the future!

This video has given me a deeper perspective into the entire meaning of "time". Thank you for creating such a magnificent piece of work. Look forward to your future productions :)

I watched this video in Youtube and felt guilty of enjoying it for free. My first patreon support is given to you and please keep up. The most stunning educational video I have ever seen.

i loved it, that‘s why i‘m here :) hope to see more of these beautiful creations :)

thank you

I know Neil deGrasse is often referred to as the modern day Carl Sagan, but in my opinion Brian Cox tops him. Cox just has a more soothing way with words, that inspires and makes you wonder. Neil is more of "the great teacher", being able to teach everyone a bit of the cosmos. Anyway, thank you for a wonderful video. I can imagine the amount of time it took to create. Your choice of music was spot on as always, and it matched the vived imagery perfectly. You've brightened my day.

Achuu

Yes, that was one reference point among many - their framing of the topic made the perfect scaffold to build my video around. Good stuff!

John Boswell

Loved your video! You keep outdoing your past work! Were you inspired by The Five Ages of the Universe: Inside the Physics of Eternity by Adams and Laughlin? Anyone that is interested in deep time will find this book interesting as well.

You've done something that I didn't know was possible, and recaptured that youthful fascination I had back when I was young and watching Nova documentaries with my parents. For the entire 29 minute runtime, "captivated" might be a strong enough word to describe my attention to the video. I look forward to seeing where you go from here!

This is truly a piece of art. Your videos always leave me in a kind of trance after visualizing the vastness of our universe, the beautiful videos and the perfect music that you create. I would definitely pay to see this on the big screen. Thank you. EDIT: I need to add more words about how this masterpiece has moved me. I'm studying physics with Astrophysics and cosmology and it's with videos like yours that make become more sure that I have chosen the right thing. The universe is beautiful, violent and relentless yes, but beautiful anyways. I'm sure your videos will inspire next generations of scientists that will look back to your videos as a source of inspiration. Thank you again for all you do.

Gorgeous. Thank you for making this incredible piece of art.

Beautiful work, as usual... I would love to see scientist you feature in your videos react to your work.

Once again, you give image/sound to the greatest ideas of science. I never cease to be amazed at how you manage to do that! One thing I contemplated near the end with the last black hole exploding.. rotating around it, the light emitted was constant even though the particles seemed to move at a slower speed (I guess the speed of light is still faster than anything else at that time). It was a great pleasure to watch and listen to this masterpiece!

Dan Thomas

This is absolutely astounding and thought provoking in the highest regards imaginable, thank you for this John.
