Upload Notes: The Harpy Matriarch Part II

It's been awhile since we've seen Atilda and Reina! Too long if you ask me, hah. I really love these characters, and I've intended to post more of this story for awhile~ but I was pulled to other projects that wanted priority. As a result, this writing has actually been sat on for quite awhile... sat on like a bird sits on an... egg... egg story...

Truth is I actually have a lot of part three written as it stands! Though this is my original story, a patron has requested additions to this story a few times, resulting in a bit of a backlog. I was hoping to combine these two parts, but part three is just going on for a bit longer than I thought -- I really should've known better because I had a lot of ideas to cover, haha. This part, speaking honestly, is sort of slow and weak compared to what it's sandwiched between, so if you thought this addition was a tad weak, look forward to what's to come~

Fantasy settings are so fun to delve into, I'm sure I've said this before. I look for places to improve the immersion, however. For example, I always forget and underplay the actual weapons and technology a medieval-inspired setting would have... Originally instead of catapults being used to defend Redrun, I had them as an array of archers, which was serviceable for the time but when I looked back, I figured there'd be better. I felt this way too about Conquered -- remember that Fire Emblem story? -- where I didn't go too deep into the actual defenses a city would have against a giant monster, instead playing up the insignificance of each person's attack. So I hope to improve upon this by doing more research on medieval warfare and the like~ at least getting inspiration from other fantasy universes. One place I've been drawn to is the Berserk manga/anime series, which totes a fairly grim and heavy idea of fantasy medieval Europe, where combat feels weighty and the setting can be down to earth. I try to get ideas from there on how castles and fortresses are sieged, operated, etc. Don't @ me but I've never watched or read Lord of the Rings, so I'm probably missing out a ton from ideas they explored, haha~

All in all I'm happy to see this story continue. Harpies are wonderful creatures and make for great giants. I hope you enjoyed it, and thanks again for the support everyone~
