SLE #1 (Self-Love Entry)

So every Friday i'm am going to try to start this up just to talk and make it an open space to express self love and mental health.

Throughout the week i am just going to do some independent research (IDR), and deliver information i see, to my awesome supporters. 

What i want to talk about today is Self Affirmation, which in IDR is:  the recognition and assertion of the existence and value of one's individual self.

Now although i own 3 knitted v neck zip up cardigan sweaters,  i'm in no means a therapists or psychology major. Yet, without having either as my career background, i still see it as an important topic to talk about, no matter the career. Okay, now ill shush up and share what i've come across lol.

 "Self-affirmation has been shown to have powerful effects – research suggests that it can minimize the anxiety, stress, and defensiveness associated with threats to our sense of self while keeping us open to the idea that there is room for improvement. 

Generally speaking, affirmations are used to reprogram the subconscious mind, to encourage us to believe certain things about ourselves or about the world and our place within it. They are also used to help us create the reality we wantβ€”often in terms of making (or attracting) wealth, love, beauty, and happiness. "

I myself for-sure be randomly getting down, all it takes for me is to not complete one task out of 50 on my to-do list, and now im listening to drake's take care album for a whole week. Moral of the story, your self-value is so important, and requires positive management to minimize the demons we have and also the demons we create for ourselves.

So, how do we practice self affirmation? 

I found this cool list of ways to practice which i will comment below, and will leave all the sites i got this information from in the attachment links below.

1. Create Affirmations

2. Flip (the person in the website below had further detail on all of that, yet honestly i'd even suggest to bust a flip lmao, try it out, but dont hurt yourself. I know if i learned how to flip id always say "why tf you feeling down, you can freaking flip dude!" yet that's just me doe lol. 

3. Carry affirmations with you.

4. Cellular affirmation alerts.

5. Post affirmations in your car, and throughout your house.

8. Positive reading.

9. Look up and smile.

10. Ask "Is this true?"

11. Meditation.

13. Gratitude.

14. Training.

15. Positive people.

16. Delight.

17. Self-care (Now this is the big one. A lot of these come with self care, because the more you care about yourself, and discover yourself, the more you begin to value yourself.)

All of these are further discussed in the links blow, and I Just took  the time to do this because i find this journey important. We all go through different things and handle them differently, and i'm not here to compare my life to yours; yet i am here to bring some positivity in this MF, because there is alot of darkness in this world. 

I hope you take the time and get a chance to read this and also practice. Manifest happiness in your life, because life has proved to many people that happiness does not come for you, you have to go for it. You cant buy it on ebay, or download it on spotify. The shit aint in that random ass sock you find after doing laundry in the commercial laundromat, and it definitely aint in the bed. It's in your mind, and in your heart. We all just have to search for it; and i believe both you and i will find it.
