AEW Grand Slam: Australia likely switching venues
Added 2024-11-25 19:43:38 +0000 UTCFightful Select reports that a venue change for AEW Grand Slam: Australia is likely, with an announcement expected sooner rather than later.
Over the past week, the current seating map changed significantly, with many seats removed and numerous sections becoming untrackable. While it was unclear if the map was in transition, there have been no further changes since then, and it now shows limited ticket availability.
The show was originally scheduled to take place at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, AU.

I just seen they’re moving Grand Slam to Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

2024-11-27 14:36:15 +0000 UTCThis was an insane plan for so many reasons. I love Brisbane and I know Toni Storm moved to the Goldie from her true home in Aotearoa (that’s right the claiming is on), but this was DOA. They needed two years of planning to get anywhere even near Suncorp. Even then, it would be a stretch. I feel like they should have picked Melbourne in a smaller arena. The greatest sports city in the world would have had locals come along out of interest, and the facilities are extraordinary. But even then I would have thought that they’d need a solid year of promotion. If this wasn’t TK’s idea, they need to sack the person whose it was.

2024-11-27 07:39:20 +0000 UTCTerrible decision to run a stadium in Brisbane, particularly with expensive pricing and no marketing.

2024-11-25 22:41:33 +0000 UTCHaving said this, it's probably not fair to ask the people who bought tickets to go elsewhere in Australia since many have already made travel plans for Brisbane. Move Grand Slam to the Brisbane Entertainment Centre and have the Dynamite/Collision go-home show(s) before Grand Slam in Sydney or Melbourne.

2024-11-25 21:21:36 +0000 UTCToo many sections are untrackable (meaning, I can't zoom in to see how many seats are distributed/available) at the moment to get a real feel. Plus many of the available tickets are just gone now. Early on it didn't look good but that was strictly from looking at the map and not crunching numbers. There's just no way they could've done the show there at the rate it was selling, in my opinion.

2024-11-25 20:33:36 +0000 UTCIs there a way to know the tickets distributed before they close it down? Was it really that bad?

2024-11-25 20:27:42 +0000 UTCProbably will be like how WWE did it in 2022 for MITB in Vegas. -Refund everyone who bought stadium tix. -Do a presale for just people who bought stadium tix if they want to go to an arena show. -Then business as usual (VIP presale, arena presale, general on sale)

2024-11-25 20:24:23 +0000 UTCIf MITB comes to mind, their ego won’t be hurt since their counter is “that’s on Vince era.” HHH needs one hit to validate.

2024-11-25 20:08:51 +0000 UTCWonder what they will do with those tickets that have already sold. Will my ticket be cancelled and I have to buy ticket for new venue or will I be allocated to a seat automatically?

2024-11-25 19:56:28 +0000 UTCIt was very ambitious of AEW to try and hold a stadium show outside of the U.S. or the UK, but they aren't there yet as a company. Even WWE didn't fully sell out Elimination Chamber earlier this year and they are red-hot right now. If they are keeping it in Brisbane (due to the rumored tax breaks they received from Brisbane) move it to the Brisbane Entertainment Centre (as Kyle noted) or see if you can hold it at the Rod Laver Arena (the main Australian Open venue) to keep with the Grand Slam theme. That has a 14.8k capacity and is in Melbourne, where they would either sell out or get close to a sell out.

2024-11-25 19:54:34 +0000 UTCThey have to use Moxley’s unhinged persona to explain why the venue change.
James
2024-11-25 19:50:50 +0000 UTCThey'll sellout an arena. As most are mentioning, Brisbane Entertainment Centre is a great choice. It'll be a really loud crowd and people won't care that they didn't run the stadium after the show.
