Hello dear aspara, you are one well informed man ;-) You are right about the advanced marble techniques in Baroque times. However this is nothing composed but rather a fossiled material. Thank you for being here with us. Warm greetings, Rose

Definitely the right direction you are going here! This looks like stone but are you aware that from about the Baroque onwards many of the stone plastering was actually artificially made. Especially marble, but they were so good at that time that they could fake large surfaces of any stone - and I am not talking about painting a surface like stone, but re-creating the structure. So, this might not be a randomly cut and select stone plate but perhaps was even fabricated that way. Check out the technique: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scagliola

I cannot wait for the vrritasium report. I bought big into litecoin and veritasium. Bix sold me good on them. I really hope veri survives this prossess through the ringer.

So. . .I was wrong. I remember an image that is very similar from the 'Dome of the Rock' Here is a Blog site that took a picture of it. http://jtmacyenglish.blogspot.com/2011/07/israel-day-11-temple-mount-southern.html

I can’t make out the image. What is it suppose to be?

Line of thought: Mental activity making impressions on stone. Think of the Asura cave of Padamasambhava with its hand prints, foot prints and "energy carvings." There are also foot prints in stone allegedly made by Christ. If we can project images into stone, the next question i that occurs to me is: Was the slab found and taken to the building where it resides? or was the impression made there? Is the stone natural or a polymer of some sort, unknown to us now, much like the lost recipe of Roman concrete.? The red marble reminds me of marble in the Vatican. St Peter's perhaps? I have never been there. I feel like I have seen this before but probably only in a photo. "Curiouser, and curiouser." said Alice.
