I don't know anything about code and am mystified by technology in general. In the beginning I boycotted Ripple because I saw it as the bankers coin. I may have seen Dicks interview and maybe that was when I decided to join them. Just seems to make sense but now more than ever, it seems this is the area to do a deep dive. Seems things are happening fast and we need the knowledge now!

Is the supply really limited or that can be changed ? What does it (in other word devaluation) change for the investor ? How clean is XRP code, consensus algo vs competition rewarded ? Stuff like that... Im not a big fan of ETC but as fork of ETH, I do believe the code and the cryptography (Keccak aka submited SHA-3) makes it an ok coin despite the 51% attack. It's more advance/recent than Ripple but also younger, first mover is really important thats why Ripple is so important. All this a side, what I wrote above doesn't mean "SHIT" regarding your future ROI. Make sense ?

ETC suffered a double spending attack early this year. I find that troubling that there is either faulty coding or the coin is not decentralized enough.
