Encrypt Your Seed Phrases

Here's something Dick put together from one of his friends at a "smart" agency. You can employ this method for your wallets and try it out for yourself.

There is an accompanying pdf which I've attached.

Enjoy. More sessions coming...

UPDATE ***************************************************************************************************

Ok All. Straight from Dick. He asked me to post this:

DICK ALLGIRE’S CIPHER CHALLENGE

Dick Allgire here. I’m glad you are having fun with my encryption lesson.

Some of  you claim this cipher is easy to break. Okay, here’s my challenge:

BRXHT PZGIM OZESA BQTQB GNZJT IBBPV OIQBS OVOZM OQPMO VODYY

Send me the message back in clear text by
07:00 28 March 2019 and I will send you 1 Litecoin.

Good luck,

Dick

Encrypt Your Seed Phrases

Comments

Loved this. thanks Dick. I do have a couple of questions for the team, can you please give some advise for those of us who wont ever be able to buy crypto or silver: What should be done about our meager savings, should we take our funds out & stash our cash? Or a thought that came to me after watching Dick on "customer dis-service" if you are nervous about having cash around the house, would it be feasible to put the funds in PayPal to make it accessible? Once again I'm looking for solutions for those of us that aren't well off & wont ever be able to purchase Crypto, please consider posting something for us. Thank you

Some say yes some say no, depends on the viewer. It's all about the resolution they can manifest.

Anyone with a name like Voltaire has got to be pretty smart! Bravo!

Thank you John. We appreciate your feedback and support.

The first decrypt looked like it had something like “cant you crack the truth ...”

Dick, great stuff. This is real value added. I see there is some debate but I think all can agree this is 1000 times better than NO decoding at all. I believe your 1 Litecoin is quite safe. Cheers, John M.

Tariq's decryption is quite good, and 3 of his words are in the dictionary for seed phrases (<a href="https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0039/english.txt)" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0039/english.txt)</a> . The title of this thread is "Encrypt Your Seed Phrases". If Dick has deviated into encrypting random words, he is really wasting our time. More likely, he has realized that his first encryption suggestion was too easy to decrypt, and he is trying out some simple variation of the original idea, designed to make it more difficult. A clue could be that the average seed phrase is 65 letters long. Dick's challenge is only 50 letters, so we are missing some letters.

EBY GOD IS FRAIL WHEN ON ESKIMO FEED PAF NEW A PAIR AND RAP ACT T

How are you getting 3 letter words when all the encrypted words from Dick are all 5 letters?

ERUPT BAG FIX ANY MELT LEG VAST FEE BOX FLEYXOXAIXLBIXOX***

I can decode it to 9 allowed words, but not 12:

It is not a seed phrase. Dick is cheating. If you decrypt it with the key "BRTMH*SP**IXEGA**O*QZ*****" you get "ABLE CHUNK DRUM GOAT CTAN*U*CKAAH*RKTAGR*RUDRTHDR*R***", and 4 is the maximum number of allowed words you can get out of it. A seed phrase contains 12 allowed words. Dick has encrypted something else than a seed phrase.

Been doing this for important numbers ever since I learned it in while in my 20s. Nice that Dick took time to discuss it

what if you have an accident and get amnesia? or a brain injury? Not wishing that on you, but things happen ...

Could a remote viewer break the cipher by viewing it to get the seed word?

Amazing how easy it can be once you have a defined set of words.

Thank you Dick this will help tremendously

Dick. Your challenge has to be an encryption of a seed phrase. The challenge is not fair, if you choose a sentence, which is not a seed phrase. Seed phrases are much easier to decrypt than other sentences, because the words come from a known list of words.

can't help but laugh

Dick, Love the challenge let's see what happens now.

Thanks, Anders. Probably only going to get worse.

Ok Dick, I'll take on your challenge but 1st how about providing the code word....oops that's right if I dont no that word I cant decode it.....I lose....Thanks Dick. I love the concept and will work on it

Seems there are a lot of smart people in cryptos .

I memorize my seed phrases.

That’s awesome. Thanks! I would also split my seed words in half or third and store it on different digital and physical platforms. If one platform gets compromised they will only have a one half or a third of the seed words. I would also encrypt the order of the seed words.

Sure as long as we know they are words because they are kept distinct from each others... I like this idea because it's simple, a kid can learn it. Then It's up to you to present those words with or without spaces with a rule of your own or a specific order to read them. But your warning is fair as it would be easy to break for somebody knowing the method.

I encoded the seed phrase "witch collapse practice feed shame open despair creek road again ice least" (from <a href="https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Seed_phrase)" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Seed_phrase)</a> using Dick's method and the password "crypto". The webpage <a href="https://quipqiup.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://quipqiup.com/</a> broke the encryption in 5 seconds.

You may be able to decrypt your seed phrase using this web-page, <a href="https://quipqiup.com/," rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://quipqiup.com/,</a> if you forgot the password...

Michael: It depends on the country. Using the USA as an example: "If presented with an electronic device containing information that is protected by a passcode or encryption or other security mechanisms, an officer may request the individual’s assistance in presenting the electronic device and the information contained therein in a condition that allows inspection of the device and its contents.” That doesn’t mean that travelers are forced to provide the passcode, but if they don’t, the officer can detain the device for further and more thorough inspection."

Thanks, Dick. Do you think that going through customs while trying to escape the country you are in that the authorities would confiscate one's device, e.g. Ledger Nano? Or maybe the authorities seeing the device would demand you give up your seed words? If that were a threat it'd be best to carry nothing and buy a new device later on and use your method to restore things. Seems like a good idea!

this is called a substitution cipher, you can use this tool to play with it:<a href="https://cryptii.com/pipes/alphabetical-substitution" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://cryptii.com/pipes/alphabetical-substitution</a> if you do decide to use this tool, NEVER enter all your seed words, as the owner of this site can see what you entered

That encryption is fairly easy to break, and you do not need a super computer to break it. I would not post a seed phrase encrypted in that way anywhere. I would use a more professional encryption, AES-256, and use a program like 7-zip to do the encryption.
