Current and Future Plans

Hi everyone!

I hope you've been enjoying Racing Lagoon. The public response to the patch has been amazing and it's been incredible seeing this game come to life after all these years.

Currently I am in the exploration phase of the next project. This means poking around in the files of different games to see if an English patch is feasible. I have some ideas for the next game but I am also curious which games you would like to see. Feel free to make suggestions, but know that due to the finicky nature of romhacking I cannot make any guarantees.

Before a project can be announced, I have to make sure that ALL text in the game can be edited, because I would hate to announce a project only to run into a roadblock that can't be fixed down the line. This means that there will be some wait before the next project is announced, I hope you understand.

I saw that the next project is locked, but I want to give you a couple of ideas for the future, they are two racing games for PS2 1st: Racing Battle C1 GP, a great racing game from Genki, and kind of a spinoff from the Tokyo Xtreme racer games, there's a lot of text and mechanical stuff to translate, so it could take a while. Anyway, If you pick it in the future, I'll gladly help you with the vehicle stuff as an automotive consultant! 2nd: Sega Rally 2006, another racing game that never got to the west, even if the main menu and arcade mode is completely in english. The career mode is almost entirely in japanese, but there isn't much text, it (from what it seems) could be a nice and quick project! And I'd love to help on this one too.

Congrats on the finished project... I did not expect you to finish this early, but I applaud you. Also, maybe a reworked translation of Front-mission 2 or a translation of Baroque (the original one) on ps1.

Huge ups to Pop'n Tanks!

Listen. I know it's not a PSX game. And I know it's not a game anyone cares about. But Gundam Age Cosmic Drive/Universe Accel looks like the best Gundam game to ever come out, and it kills me that it can't be played in English. So I'm throwing that game out to Hilltop with zero expectations that they even give it a look.

Add another for "Brightis"

Peace

I second the advice about Aconcagua that another supporter mentioned.

"I have some ideas for the next game but I am also curious which games you would like to see." Sigma Harmonics is waiting to be translated for so long! It's ost is absolutely beautiful, and it's a shame we can't play the game :( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loW11_8mzuc&ab_channel=SinnerFalcon

There's some interesting projects out there that might intrigue you, depending on what you are looking for and what level of challenge you want. Assuming you are sticking to the platform of PSX, there's a game that was already translated into Spanish but never got an English translation. It's called Germs Nerawareta Machi http://www.romhacking.net/translations/6321/ If you aren't necessarily sticking to PSX, there's a few other projects that have been started but need to cross the finish line. Giftpia for the GameCube and Captain Rainbow for the Wii in particular are white whales of the translation community. Giftpia has been started, and the translation is fully completed, but never injected. Captain Rainbow was started and injected by a guy who goes by Markass, but it wasn't finished and I believe his source code is still out there. If the links are dead I might still have it. If you're feeling really adventurous... The biggest white whale out there is Segagaga for the Dreamcast. Apparently the VWF is practically uncrackable. There's a dude on Patreon who is translating the whole thing with no plans on ever injecting it. But you might be able to partner up with Derek Pascarella / Ateam for the Dreamcast technical help... Whatever you choose though, you're doing awesome work and it's greatly appreciated! Edit: Forgot about Moon! There's a whole community that had it like 90% done, but stopped because a Switch version came out. That really sucks for us diehards who want it on the original system. That's a really cool weird RPG that you might be able to tidy up and get help from that existing community as well. (I have that patch too somewhere)

huge congrats on finishing racing lagoon! some games i'd looove to see translated are: gokinjo boukentai (snes), the maid uniform & machine gun (ps2), milano no arubaito (psx), dig-a-dig pukka (psx), yakitori musume (psx), and giftpia (gc)!

I know the PSP one is being worked on but I would love to see the Boku no Natsuyami games get translated. That might be my Number 1? Otherwise I really want to see Sakura Wars 2-4, Wachenroder, and and Tengai Makyou series get it. Real bucket list stuff, all super text heavy of course. Hey you asked!

If it's possible perhaps something like cybernetic empre would be nice to see in English After some thought if you still feel like tackling another RPG. Perhaps Summon night 1-2 could be also considered in the future. Even though they're rather text heavy they don't really have any super tricky hacking to be done either besides just text replacing.

Brightis, Fist of the North Star, and Pop'n Tanks! on PS1 always looked cool to me. If it was completely up to you, what would you work on next?
