This guy makes great points. Fragmenting audiences into dozens of streaming sites can't be good. They may be sustainable and even create a cross platform advertising system but they would be so far behind. Even the porn industry is dominater by one company, which basically destroyed the porn industry. There is a great podcast about this case (the butterfly effect).

It may allow some niches to be sustainable but they will have serious problems targeting mass audiences and benefiting from new viewers who would never deliberately visit Weedyoutube on a daily basis.
2019-06-23 17:27:43 +0000 UTCI found your channel BECAUSE of youtube's algorithm, so it stands to reason that being excluded from such a broad media platform will seriously hamper the growth and social influence of any creator or school of thought. I think it's important to stay active on YouTube as long as possible, even if your channel isn't earning money, because you're still gaining subscribers and fans. But you definitely need to look at other options to generate revenue and continue to grow your audience. Merch, coaching, speaking events, sponsors, collaborations, guest appearances, other video media platforms, writing articles or books, start a column in a local or online publication, maybe even get into public radio?
