The sheriff turned in his chair and lit a cigar. His office was small-a desk, a couple of cabinets full of cases and bottles of alcohol, and a safe with weapons. A thick metal grating separated the office from the cell with the prisoner. "So, you need my prisoner on an urgent matter. I'm offering you a deal. Our town has long been threatened by bandits. You help me fight them off, and he's yours. Is it a deal?”
