Added 2019-12-16 00:46:47 +0000 UTCThis video is 2 parts- the first half is some discussion on traditional song structure and what it means to us. The second part is writing sections in minor with a focus on breaking the rules we've already established.
It's really incredible how good the final product sounds in this video considering how SIMPLE the idea is! The whole point though is to get you thinking about structural function- why does a section want to go somewhere, or conclude, and what can you do to help or impede that.
Since this has been an ignored topic and since I don't plan on doing more of them soon for Patreon, I will make it a point to include more structural explanations in my regular YouTube videos. For example, this next video on major riffs will include extra details on arrangement and how riffs can be repurposed for other sections.
The next Patreon - Only video will be a case study for how to write a solo. Then after that I'll be consulting the previous poll to decide what videos I'll be making for you all here.
