Regarding the planks of the Communist program in the first edition of the Manifesto: later versions include a foreword from Engels that clarifies how the planks were an initial idea and that they should be revisited and revised regularly. He even lists a few that he himself considered obsolete, though I cant recall which ones off the top of my head.
