2023-01-03 02:19:06 +0000 UTCAround ~42:00-43:00. I had a co-worker at Sbux who wore an "Eat The Rich" shirt one day and was all about LGBT rights and all that. When we went on strike they ended up scabbing because they needed to pay bills, which sounds like a fair answer, but it was clear to us she did not want to upset the manager whom she had a good relationship with. I think people wanting to retain their sense of comfort is a big part of not wanting to organize. I think that feeling itself sits on top of the deeper, often unrecognized or avoided feeling of fear of losing that comfort and just falling into stress and worry and anxiety and depression. And it all isn't helped by the fact that people don't know many other people who organize unions and strike and win. It doesn't sound real to them.
