In 76, each point in Intelligence does help you to level up, as each point increases your XP gain by, like, 2%. So, if you were to max out your Intelligence, then join a full 'Casual' team with the bonds maxed, your Intelligence would be 14, netting you around 28% more XP for everything you do.
There are other ways of boosting XP, such as being Rested (or Well Rested), which will boost XP gain by 5% for an hour, along with the finishing the "The Path to Enlightenment" public event, which is another 5% boost. Since you'll be in a Casual group, I also recommend getting the 'Inspirational' perk card (under Charisma) up to 3 stars, as you'll get an extra 15% XP when you're on a team with others.
You can also utilize some consumables to give a boost, such as Canned Meat Stew (5% extra for an hour), Cranberry Relish (10% XP), and, the best ones when you're in a group or public event, Lunchboxes, which will give everyone in the area they're opened in an extra 25% XP. Players can open up to four Lunchboxes at a time, which doubles your XP gain for a full hour. (The boost maxes out at 100%) The community in 76 is awesome, and older players will usually pop a few Lunchboxes before public events, if other players are around.
Lunchboxes are in the Atomic Shop, (I've seen them in there as a Daily Free Item plenty of times), and they are rewards you can unlock in the Season Pass. My main 76 character is on Xbox, and I have a couple hundred Lunchboxes, without ever purchasing any from the Atomic Shop.
I'm Mr_Hox on PS5, and everyone feel free to join me in-game!
