Progress update (27 February 2021)

Hello everyone~

I want to talk a little about current progress. To keep you all updated due to a long development time. 

The 0.5 storyline that should advance the main plot and uncover certain characters more has been written. Currently, I'm making all the visuals for the update. Such as renders and animation. Along with finalizing and correcting the script. This update should be the most varied in terms of scenes and animations of all the previous single updates. The 0.4 update had more animations, but it was done in two releases.

So far, I did about 600~ renders for the current update and 7 animation loops.

I can't justify how long it takes for this release. But I want to be as honest as I can with you all. 

At the very beginning, I thought that a release last year was possible. But it's already the end of February. And I wish I could make releases more often as I would benefit from it. And I could've cut back on quality: reduce the number of renders relative to lines of text, stop making custom poses for scenes, not invest so much time in the play of lights and shadows. That would increase the frequency of the updates greatly. But I don't want to. Even if sometimes my ambitions seem too big for me and I'm a perfectionist with high demands. I still want to deliver the best I could and look for the positive sides. At least I'm trying.

I know all of this sounds like a rant. I guess I try to convince myself that I do it for the best too. I'm not in a good place in my mind right now. As I can't focus properly on work because of the dizziness, I'm getting lately. With this long release, the worst is not able to work at all. But I don't want that to sound like an excuse. So I assure you that I try to work when I can to get things done. And I will get back in my full force as soon as I can get the treatment for my illness. 

With this said, I'm taking a little break from discord, not to disturb everyone with my groom mood and weak health.


But to lighten up this post and to tease everyone a bit, I will say. As I said in my previous post, I want this update to be special, and I can't say what it will be, but it will be about Sophie's romance~ So Sophie's love route fans would be happy. And, of course, as before, the update will end with a twist.

Also, one last thing before I go.

I want to say a big thanks to all of you for being here. For reading this post and keeping an eye out for my game. If you weren't here, I wouldn't be here too.

Before, I was releasing the halves of the update, and I thought that releasing the full update would be a good idea; I probably was wrong. I'll rethink that.

Don't sacrifice quality, but you could perhaps sacrifice quantity, IE. make smaller updates but more frequently, I can wait for bigger updates, but it is not easy, and I fear you start losing support if your release schedule between new versions is too long. Quality is what brings people to support you so definitely don't sacrifice that (ton of crap is worth nothing, one diamond is worth a lot).

Take care of yourself, and don't burnout yourself ! The more the project advances, the more branchings there are and the more time it takes. As impatient as we are, quality takes time, we have to cope with this fact.
