We Won't Be at PRGE 2023

Hey folks, this is a quick announcement that's also a bummer.

Earlier in the year we'd said that we planned to return to the Portland Retro Gaming Expo. We submitted a proposal for our panel, and waited, and waited, and waited... only to learn just recently that we'd been rejected.

Without doing a live panel it doesn't make sense for us to spend the money and time to make an appearance at the show. We apologize sincerely if you'd already made plans to attend... Gary will still be around, and it's still a fun show to attend (even if just to see the Retronauts, who will be doing a panel this year).

In the podcast episode attached to this post we talk about what we asked for, and what our plans for live appearances will be. In short, we're looking at attending other shows in other parts of the country. So if you know of any video game expos or conferences, let us know about them, but more importantly, ASK THEM TO BOOK US. Reaching out on social media makes a difference, for real.

We are also looking at doing another Duckfest, if that ends up making sense.

This is a little rough because obviously we have very normal brains and aren't sensitive to rejection at all. But we soldier on, and are grateful for all of your support, which makes these ups and downs easier to weather.

Thanks!

Kole

Sounds like you’re making lemonade out of lemons. Makes sense! Excited to hear all about how well it works out!

Man, the episodes when you talk about that EXPO are always a blast and make it seem like so much fun to go to. I wish there was a good gaming expo around my neck of the woods to recommend but alas, Denver is boring...

Micah Spiese

Yeah, it does feel a bit like a kick in the face when we've been going so long. -GB

Man, this makes me feel real defensive of our good boys. You deserve better, especially after 10 years of being a part of their community. I'm sure all the individuals involved are great people, but it's super lame that the convention would handle it this way. It's very much their loss. Looking forward to the WOFF World Tour! I'm basically at the bottom of the East Coast, but I'd happily travel to see y'all when you cross the Great Corn Sea from the West Coast.

Chapel Collins

Sorry to hear about this, but as a long time Canadian listener hearing about the possibility of you guys coming up is exciting ! Vancouver and Edmonton both have some great conventions that I’m aware of.

Steven Reichenbach

Very disappointed to see them reject you guys after you’ve been part of the convention for at least a decade.

Bob Mackey

Woooooo CT WOFF fans, I'm gonna hit up the Videogame Con that the Mohegan Sun does to see if they can book them

Keep your stick on the ice and always remember we're pullin' for ya -- We're all in this together.

would love to see a panel at MAGfest. it’s usually in January which is always tricky with holiday stuff but it’s a little later this year. I know some folks on MAGstaff so if there’s any way I could help make that happen, I’d be happy to

Karl Germ

Hey guys, Connecticut calling. Not sure if you wanna travel this far but, Retro World Expo happens here in CT. Give it a look and see if up yer alley. Just throwing one out for ya. Love ya guys.

Brian Cecchinato

I think a modicum of travel expenses are on the table from here on out. Kole getting his car stolen, which was unrelated, sort of made me think about it differently, even though it wasn't anyone's fault. Rather than shop us, shoot me an email (gary at duckfeed tv) and I'll add it to the roster of stuff I'm reaching out to. EDIT: To clarify, asking places to book us is GOOD, and like, we're probably happy to go anywhere that doesn't cost us money. To clarify with PRGE, we weren't asking for all our expenses covered, we just low balled an amount that would cover some of it. I wouldn't rule out short turn around appearances by request from places, if we're not re-arranging our lives and budgets around them. Once we get something we're aiming for, we'll definitely ask our listeners to let the con in question know they're coming to see us! -GB

Damn right.

Jack Corrigan

Serious question: would you guys be asking to be paid at any convention location, size, or duration? If fans wanted to shop other cons for you for next year…it might make some difference to know?

Jack Corrigan

That’s a shame, hopefully you can book something else

Forced into Femininity

I’m sorry about this. You do amazing work and this doesn’t define your success.
