Alright lads, new BBC podcast The Lovecraft Investigations is aight, but tame, don’t know where it sits with the sag aftra stuff but might be a good one for yous

Man I would love to hear episodes on c.h.u.d. And though it loosely fits repo man. Repo man just being the penultimate punk/scifi romp into introspection!

Also not an endorsement of DMT but one of the more interesting elements of the drug connects to the description of it only lasting for 15ish minutes. This is technically true, but it messes with your sense of time drastically. It makes those 15 minutes feel like days and days which is terrifying and fitting since Carcosa is a timeless eldritch emissary or whatever.

Wow, okay. Found my content line. Thought I was prepared. I was not. Still, great episode.

a tease of a wonderful new show covering this series

I initially read that as the original 'Necronomicon', and turned, "This one's heavy! You been warned." over in my head a few times. Then, NEOnomicon clicked in and Oh! OOOOHHHH!! That's a whole 'nother beast.

Great episode! I do want to tag onto the content warning that Providence does have a pretty explicit and bone chilling SA scene as well. It's not nearly as intense as Neonomicon but its still delayed my reread of that story. Excited for Marble Hornets next!

Ian Bonner

Excited to listen to this one! I think there might be something up with the feed though. Podcast Addict hasn't downloaded or found it.

Andres Rodriguez

That is by no means a failing on your part haha Thanks for listening, and for all that you folks do, looking forward to Marble Hornets and the eventual Providence eps!

I was looking forward to this episode in particular because it's something I personally am not going to read because of the content. But I've always been curious because of it's high Upseticules rating, and because it's one of the Duckfeed referential cornerstones. There's lots of horror media I'm interested in, but I know my weaknesses, and know I won't ever consume it, for whatever reason. The thought of hearing you guys discuss the interesting ideas and cool shit within stuff that's more complicated to get involved with than watching a movie is real exciting for me.

Chapel Collins

Good insight. I had no idea, as I haven't ever done that drug. -GB

Really love this episode! One thing about the Courtyard is the main character casually mentioning DMT as a "mild hallucinogen", you mentioned this, but for me, that was my first clue that the narrator has gone absolutely insane. It is an extremely intense hallucinogen, and the idea of that being the gateway to reach a new forbidden language is some Terrance Mckenna machine-elf nonsense that I have such a soft spot for. It being used for lovecraftian horror is very well observed and scary, and I haven't really seen it used in this way anywhere else, other than KIND OF John Dies At The End.

just a heads up, this hasn't gone out on the patron-only feed! no rush, just felt like you guys should know
