Really late here, but I recently finished a playthrough as a fighter/warlock multiclass, and I just wanted to point out the only time I noticed where my Tav actually interacted with his patron was the conversation with Yirgir. Basically, I was able to have a mental conversation with them to make the check easier to convince Yirgir to unalive himself; I was able to recommend it right away rather than going through and having him off his minions and the displacer beast first. I really wish it would have added some dialogue with Raphael, too. You would think that when he tries to buy your soul your patron would pop up and be like, “Hold your horses, Raphy, this one’s mine!” Mizora at least recognized it in Act 3; when she came onto me I accused her of trying to make a deal and she said I was already spoken for. So, a little flavor, but I agree it's not as involved as it could be at the table.

2025-08-12 14:28:17 +0000 UTCI want to take the opportunity to champion playing a Githyanki which I did on my first playthrough. I had a tonne of unique interactions, some of the funnier ones come from being an alien unfamiliar with Faerun's culture and creatures, such as getting some Tieflings in the grove to explain what a "Cat" is and what you use it for. It also gave me a very unique relationship with Lae'Zel from the start. She'd call me "Kin" and generally treated me positively as the only other normal person around. But where it shines brightest is interactions with Illithids and other Gith. Obviously the Gith at the Creche are much warmer to one of their own, but what I liked is I didn't have to play either a fanatical loyalist or total outcast who hates their own kind. I could successfully roleplay someone who is a member of Gith society, but critical of it. Lae'Zel's questline felt like something we shared, going down a rebellious path together was as important as the main quest and allowed for some excellent drama. Being ordered by Vlaakith to execute the sphere's occupant or be branded traitors was like being torn in two and you really feel how much you sacrifice by refusing. So if you're willing to get in character and say Ghaik a lot, I'd recommend trying it out.

2024-06-05 15:05:43 +0000 UTCAs a side note, my Tav was a Gith purely based off the heritage perks, as I knew nothing of their lore. I RP'd a hippy ass druid/ranger. I was so disappointed that my people didn't vibe, but came full circle when I found out about the Githzerai. The moon druid / beast master ranger multiclass was real suboptimal, but we were permanently a double bear party, which is my favorite kind of party

2024-06-04 23:43:20 +0000 UTCYou danced around all the reasons I love warlocks. Faustian bargains are my favorite part of tabletop, and for warlocks it's the gift that keeps giving. My players always have a tough, interesting decision to deepen their pact and level up. Between Eldritch blast and AOE damage spells, Wyll felt good to play because he's an easily optimized damage dealer, and gave me room to make a less optimized and flavorful Tav.

2024-06-04 23:28:47 +0000 UTCSo I use Astarion (AKA Gith Astarion) so I usually multi class him in the beginning as a ranger/ rogue. I do it that way so his strength is increased. I usually use gloom stalker ranger with proficiency in archery. Anyway rangers get increased jump as well.

2024-06-04 11:42:11 +0000 UTCI did the draw a new face on the portrait with and without Lae’zel. With her she calls you childish and of course she doesn’t like it. But it’s still funny. It’s also funny if you don’t pass it and you fail and you slip. 😂 Astarion loves it.

2024-06-03 00:45:01 +0000 UTCThis feels like a dumb question, but when you say you never “took Wyll” in your playthrough, do you mean you never recruited him to your party? Or you had him in your party but you never had him leave camp? Just curious because I mostly see folks recruiting as many party members as possible so wondering if your approach was different. Thanks!

2024-06-02 23:14:39 +0000 UTCThe Devil's Own Sight Eldritch Invocation doesn't seem special at a glance but is to me a game-changing warlock ability. It is one of the few things in 5e that allows someone to see through magical darkness, allowing a warlock to comprehensively control the battlefield with Darkness spells. Ranged attacks cannot target something blocked by Darkness at all.

2024-06-02 22:01:59 +0000 UTCIt's probably a little immersion breaking but a good use of any of the "set Stat to X" kinds of equipment or accessories is allowing you to then go to Withers and respec that stat's base value to its minimum and allocate them elsewhere, which can be handy for hybrid builds or multiclasses that benefit from boosting a few different stats as high as possible

2024-06-02 14:37:49 +0000 UTCIf you use the back or hidden entrance (that’s what they call it) found it by accident because I was looking for all the weapons. Anyways never have to much of a problem because when ask what I’m doing I answer for myself saying I just wanna be around my own kin.

I probably need to do a play through where I just see what happens if I don’t cause I haven’t done that before. And I always go in the back never in the front. (That’s what she said? 🤔😂)
