Elden Ring DLC Coverage Status

Hey folks, K here. Just felt like telling you that both Gary and I have finished the Shadow of the Erdtree and are recording our first impressions episode tomorrow.

With what’s essentially Elden Ring 2 under our belts, we can start outlining the next season of the show and figure out when the season proper will debut. You’ll know when we know! The good news is that Bonfireside Chat fans will be eating well for a while. There’s so much in the DLC to talk about.

In the meantime, the best thing you can do to help us out is spread the word about the 2024 Premium Episode Sampler pack. Other than that, we thank you for your support!

- K

They summoned to high heaven. Which is fine.

Oliver Tripp

Basically you’re like the one friend in the group who can fast travel and everybody has messages for each other 🙄

Austin Mathis

Can't wait to hear you guys talk about the best Captain Ahab / Moby Dick adaptation I've seen for a while. CURSE YOUUUU *******

Mystic Referee

As a long time listener from the original Dark Souls season, looking forward to this one! Just started the DLC last night, loving that we just get more Elden Ring to play.

Griffin Post

I can't wait! I've been listening to bfc for close to 10 years, but I've never gotten to listen 'live'. Love your podcasts!

Peter

Woohoo! I’m still working through it myself at a nice slow pace without many spoilers but I’m excited to go through your reactions live

Kyle Clements

Having discovered the universe of From Software (and your podcast) late, this is the first time I am playing one of their games at its release. I am excited to hear you 'live.' It is also the first time I am experiencing a release with all the commotion that comes with it: what a shitstorm. I think it is important to consider Elden Ring primarily as an RPG and therefore to play it in the way the game allows, which is multiple and varied. Ergo: play as you want. I guess you have been mumbling about that since episode 1 of the podcast.

antoine_velvet

I’ve been excited for this one.

Sam Albright

How the heck did y'all finish it already? Dang!

Micah Tillman

This DLC is more like an old school Expansion Pack and it fucking owns bones. There are so many fucked up dudes!

Jonathan Scratch

Looking forward to it! ❤️

Goldie

ohhhh having not played the DLC yet, or replayed the base game more than once even, i cant decide if you calling it "essentially Elden Ring 2" is thrilling or terrifying

sleepysmiles

It's a seemingly endless, ahem, "torrent" of revelations in the DLC. Even the item descriptions are recontextualizing whole swaths of lore in the main game. Can't wait for the exciting return of Bonfireside Chat!

VJRavenwood

Hells yeh! I’ve been re-listening to the entire show for like the third time at least. Just finishing the Caelid roundtable roundtable episode now. There’s a part in this one or the episode before where Gary is visited by a crow at his window and was wondering what it wanted… so there’s an alternate timeline out there where Gary made a crow friend who still brings him trinkets to this day bc he decided to actually share his corn 😆😆😆

Jesse Candelori

Agreed! - K

Duckfeed.tv

It’s a great DLC. I really like it. It’s too hard and would be better if it were easier (:

Clever Clogs

Yeah, I haven't seen a lot of babying from journalists, actually. I read a thing from the guy who did all the video guides in pre-release without summons who made a bunch of good points, ie: Would these monsters really _constantly_ be trying to trick their opponenet? Would animals have the cognizance to do delayed hits? The more I thought about it, the more I think he's actually right. It's getting pretty old, that specific approach. -GB

Duckfeed.tv

I will never stop saying Sca-do though. It's more fun! -GB

Duckfeed.tv

Playing a game like this pre-release under a tight deadline and without the benefit of wikis, plentiful human summons, and the post-release patches that adjust balance (sometimes radically) is much different than how we experience these games.

Paul Bersch

Every single From release brings around a new kind of difficulty discourse. This is the first time I’ve seen the community itself lead the charge as hard as it has. Likely due to ER’s wild popularity compared to previous games bringing in people who weren’t prepared for the customary DLC spike. - K

Duckfeed.tv

This is my first time being along for the ride with a fromsoft DLC release, are the journalists always this huge of babies about the difficulty or is it just amplified because Elden Ring is so popular?

MIKEISTKRIEG

Pre-recording note: Did you know that "sceadu" or "scadu" is an Old English word for "shadow" and is pronounced "shadow," according to the internet? I just found that out and it's making me really self-conscious about all the "scadu bee doo bee doo" scat singing I've been doing while riding around on Torrent.

Joseph

Despite all my rage, I am still just a rat in Limgrave.

Daniel Horn

I was shocked when the final boss turned out to be Master Hand from Smash Bros!

Cody

Looking forward to the impressions and what's to come. Will make myself go back to BG3 probably after finishing Elden ring since that shows made a huge binge worth chunk at this point. Thanks for what y'all do.

Kaveman222

All your Elden Ring are belong to us.

Kaveman222

One of the bosses in particular is actively made better by summoning. I’ve never heard a voice actor go harder than that guy did!

Cody

G and I need to talk about a spoiler policy. There will probably be an announced spoiler wall. The game itself does a good job of playing its big reveals close to the vest, so not giving things away will be kind of easy I think. - K

Duckfeed.tv

Hooray! Any idea what the spoiler policy will be? I finally reached it and it’ll be slow going. Really enjoying a relisten to the base game season!

Timeandwatch

I was just playin' around. I've been trying hard to block out everything about the game online, but it crops up everywhere and that's all that came to the surface. I'm not far yet myself, I'm playing through at the pace I can manage and having fun. It is hard, but it was just weird fro that to be the only thing that reached 'gen-pop' so to speak. Very much looking forward to you guys discussing it. Love y'all.

Douglas

It's super hard, but we both played basically full time and aren't shy with summons. -GB

Duckfeed.tv

Currently on the final boss! Looking forward to both of your thoughts and experiences. There’s nothing like exploring a new Fromsoft realm for the first time!

Thomas

We’re just that dedicated to bringing you Quality Content. - K

Duckfeed.tv

You both beat it in less than a week? From what I've seen, SOTE is impossible and that no one can win it and that everyone just quit playing it because it was too hard?

Douglas

Love you all everybody, we did it 🙌

Austin Mathis

Major kudos to them for being so thorough! Can’t wait to see you guys lay it out in a more digestible format in the new season!

Cody

We are going to be eating good

Soulful Bison

They’re starting to reuse proper nouns from past games in a new context in a way that really threatens to get real confusing though. “Abyss” “serpent”

Cody

Yeah, this is why I'm gonna wait a while til listen to this pod. I barely scratched the surface and...an...is that Wolverine?!

Joe Binson

Yeah, it actually answers questions for the first time since Artorias of the Abyss. It's wild -GB

Duckfeed.tv

First time I'll follow these as they release. Can't wait!

Victor

Ten years on, it’s a necessity to not take Scholarings personally. - K

Duckfeed.tv

This may be the furthest Fromsoft has gone towards expanding on underdeveloped areas of the game’s lore in a DLC ever. They touch on almost everything.

Cody

The lack of Bonfireside Chat has been a bummer. Very much looking forward to the return.

Andrew O.

Just in time for the first patch - Scholared again! 😂

Tom Young

Having resubbed recently am very excited to hear what y’all have to say! Always appreciate the insights, even if I don’t agree sometimes.

Nic Kane

Don’t compare your play pace to ours. We cleared our schedules and chugged it so we could figure out the season. 1. This is our job and we have the option to do that. 2. We don’t recommend playing it this way! Take your time and smell the withered sunflowers. - K

Duckfeed.tv

Super excited to hear what you guys think about some of the new revelations.

Johnathan Glupker

Guess I have to finally start it this weekend

Kay Francis

Wow that was quick. I just started a couple of days ago. It’s pretty great so far.

Roy D Rushing

Awesome! Looking forward to it!

Aaron

Hell yeah guys.
