Unfilmable 73: Event Horizon

Is there anything more romantic than a spaceship that finds Hell inside a black hole? Oops, did I say romantic? I meant metal as hell. Paul W.S. Anderson, the most covered director on the Duckfeed network, breaks free from the constraints of video game adaptations in order to show you a film with a lot of heart. Heart outside of the body I mean. Beating bloody on the floor.

The suits the rescue crew are wearing at the end are very similar to the old Arbite design as well, if memory serves.

I watched this when I was in my early teens with my Dad, and I couldn't sleep properly for so long afterwards πŸ˜‚ I remember really not wanting to go to bed on my own after it had finished and my Dad, also looking a bit shook, said "it was just a film, you'll be fine, go to sleep!" I Iater noticed, in the early hours when I was still anxiously wide awake, that he had gone to sleep with his bedroom lamp switched on, hahahaha. Freaked me out even further. Thanks Dad.

As others have said, the connection between Warhammer 40k and Event Horizon is pretty direct, including the overtly gothic design of the ship itself.

I'm recovering from an out-of-nowhwre stomach thing today, so I've spent all day in bed napping and trying to sweat it out. Gary's "everyone thought I was crazy for opening that agency" made me wake up busting out laughing.

Matt Bixler! Hello!

My friend and I were on vacation in Palm Springs a few weeks ago and we took some gummies and put this on in the hotel room and I think that might be the perfect way to enjoy Event Horizon. What a delight to find out it was this month's unfilmable!

I love expanding the Sam Neil horror movie collection. Before Unfilmable I only knew him as "the guy from Jurassic Park". This movie ultimately didn't meet my expectations but there are so many interesting scenes sprinkled in. Can't wait for these two baby bears to cover Creep 2: Straight Creepin'.

Long time listener (BSC, WOFF) but a newer Patreon member. I’ve been loving the unfilmable content was so happy to see you guys add this to the roster!

I think it’s so funny that you guys brought up Sunshine in the intro because I’d typed out and deleted a comment about how i pair this movie with Sunshine and Hellraiser as a little watch package for friends that have never seen those movies and then decided it might not be super relevant LOL. Also, PLEASE cover Sunshine for Unfilmable. :)

This is going to be perfect to listen to while running through the Lost Bastille tonight in my new DS2 playthrough.
