Mack's self-righteousness in this episode really pisses me off, considering what Daisy is doing is 100% in line with how every single person in Shield, including Mack, has been consistently behaving since day one. Detaining and questioning a suspect without proof of a crime is completely their m.o. in the very first episode that's how they picked up Daisy in the first place. What, suddenly now it's a problem, because he's personally having a bad day? Or just because the plot demands tension? And then trying to connect that to her powers when it has zero relation to that? Like it would somehow be more okay if it was done by a guy with a gun rather than a powered person? There is a genuine concern that could be explored here, but it feels so tone-deaf in context and just makes Mack come across as a self-righteous jerk and it's far from the only time.

Aha! Thanks for pointing out that connection! Loved Daredevil ❀️

Fourth Wall Reactions

One of my least favorite episodes of the entire series. I just can't stand Ruben's attitude, but at least he comes around by the end. The nitrimine subplot I thought was lame - they just wanted to put Fitz in some danger, but I never really felt any tension there. Coulson telling Lincoln to kill Blake felt extremely out of character, even if he knew it was a hologram. Still, there were some stuff I really liked. Glad Blake came back, giving us a bit more of his story. Mack the insurance adjster always makes me laugh at how lame a cover it was. I loved Mack cleaning house at the end against the watchdogs - when he goes full beast mode, Mack is hard to beat.

Zoot!

While they were watching the news in the beginning, the news crawl underneath included "Gang War in Hell's Kitchen". This is a reference to the events in the second season of Daredevil on Netflix. The MCU is all connected. Speaking of which, "Nitrimine" was introduced in the first season of Agent Carter.
