They filmed it all before releasing it, so you have 8 episodes that aired without any kind of fan commentary. It's like a pure vision of what the show is supposed to be, and they really nailed it. - There is a series called Disney Gallerty that has 8 episodes of behind the scenes stuff if you're into that sort of thing. They have interviews with the cast and crew. Highly recommended for a Star Wars fan. - Briefly to avoid spoilers: the history of the Mandalorians is very long and complex, and stretches across several shows and media. There were a few things in there that date back as far as 1978 in canon :) Looking forward to Season 2!
