Great episode. I'm so glad you enjoyed this. Been looking forward to seeing you reach this episode. Absolutely one of the best SJA stories. It's one of my favourite Trickster stories too as it hits all the emotional beats just like the previous ones but on an even bittersweet level. I love how these stories always focus particularly on Sarah Jane's character and the Trickster targeting her through the people she loves. The romantic aspect of life being threatened makes this interesting but also heartbreaking. Even with the quick development of her relationship with Peter, it was genuinely nice to see her happy while also acknowledging the struggles of balancing a romantic life with the alien hunting life. I'm glad you didn't expect the Trickster. Your reaction to seeing 10 again was so good. He's still my favourite Doctor. You're right about it being a treat to revisit the RTD era through this show. The Doctor bursting in at the cliffhanger is still perfect. I've always loved that moment. Another great thing about this episode is that I love how The Doctor doesn't save the day. He's just there to lend a helping hand while Sarah Jane and the kids do the work to save the day (mostly Sarah Jane and Clyde in this case). I think you have a perfecting understanding of the young characters in terms of how they reacted and felt about Sarah Jane being in a relationship and getting married. I like how Clyde was protective and skeptical of everything in contrast to Luke and Rani being more accepting of it due to Luke still being new to emotions like this while Rani embraced Sarah finding romance. The bitching between K9 and Mr Smith is brilliant. I absolutely love it. Clyde stepping up was such a great character moment. The way he used artron energy to stop The Trickster was great. :D K9 actually has a hover mode function as he stated when he saw the alien slug creature. We just don't get to see it (because of the budget). Also that slug alien creature (called the Travast Polong) previously appeared in Mark of The Berserker when Sarah Jane encountered it in a hospital. It's also worth mentioning that The Brigadier was due to reappear again for this story but sadly the actor who played him was suffering from health issues at the time hence why he gets a mention of being back in Peru. I like that they continue to mention Maria and Alan too. A shame they couldn't attend. Likewise with Clyde's mother who was also at another wedding during these events. Sarah Jane and Peter's story was heartbreaking. Even though he was misguided particular with the hypnotism ring, he was still a good guy who ended being another victim of the Trickster just like Andrea, the Graske and Sarah's parents. The fact that he saw the Trickster as an angel that saved his life and brought him to Sarah Jane makes it even more sad in retrospect. The Trickster appearing in white probably also contributed to the perception of him being an angel figure in contrast to his black clothing which reveals his true nature to The Doctor, Clyde and Rani. This also has some nice Classic who references that aren't noticeable until you've seen the stories. The Doctor had a great rapport with the kids too. Some particular standout scenes for me is when Peter sacrifices himself to save Sarah Jane. When he disappears in-front of her, it always makes me feel emotional. Elisabeth Sladen plays that heartbreak wonderfully. The Doctor's confrontation with the Trickster was also great and it's what I've always wanted to see ever since we first saw The Trickster. When The Trickster tells The Doctor that "The gate is waiting for you", this is actually a reference to The End of Time with the immortality gate in 10's final episode. The ending is such a huge highlight too. Very sad and bittersweet with Sarah Jane teary eyed, leaving alone and putting on a brave face in the attic when the kids come to comfort her. I absolutely love the part where they all go into the Tardis together. The music that plays in that moment is absolutely beautiful sounding. A sublime piece. I echo your statement about wanting the kids going on an adventure in the Tardis. I really wanted that to happen! Sarah Jane and 10's final scene together in this story was a perfect and bittersweet closure to this story. Because this was actually last thing that Tennant filmed as The Doctor (before coming back 4 years later for the 50th), it makes the episode even more bittersweet even though this aired during the specials. This episode was also supposed to be saved for the Series 3 finale but it became the third story to fit Tennant's availability. Great reaction and great episode. Glad you enjoyed it! :D

By the way, she has always been Sarah Jane, its just that the Doctor would mostly call her Sarah, unless introducing her ("Hello, this is Sarah Jane. She's my best friend."), while other characters in Classic Who such as the Brigadier would often be a bit more formal and call her Miss Smith (the Brig was always very proper and polite).
