“I can’t believe out of everyone in this coven you were given an invitation.”Edward said. Rosalie rolled her eyes and moved on to the next box of her belongings that needed to be taped up. Rosalie was packing all her belongings so that they could be picked up and transported to Eden where Rosalie was moving to. Eden was the name of the area that was South America before it was taken over by an unknown power and turned into a paradise for supernaturals. Whoever they were had toppled all the governments on the continent and shipped huge ocean liners full of humans out of the claimed areas. They had been attacked many times but a strong shield covered the territory. That shield being capable of deflecting everything from large armies to nuclear weapons.

“Maybe they liked my essay better than they liked yours.”Rosalie had poured her heart out in her application and left out no details about her life or feelings. Including never telling Bella about the mate bond. That being the greatest regret of her life as the human had been killed in a car accident only two months after the family left her behind in Forks.

“If I could just have a vision of who the people in charge are we all could meet them.”The area somehow blocked Alice’s gift. Which frustrated the seer immensely.

“I expect you to send us tons of pictures.”Emmet hated that he wasn’t getting a chance to go.

“I don’t think I will be able to because one of the requirements is you can’t bring a cell phone or computer equipment with you. You can bring flash drives with things saved on it but no computers.”Rosalie wasn’t sure about not having a phone or computer but would leave hers behind for a chance to live in Eden.

“How will we keep in touch?”Carlisle didn’t actually care about talking to Rosalie it was just that she was his inside contact.

“I think the idea is once you go passed the shield you’re giving up your old life for the chance of something new.”Rosalie didn’t care that she was leaving her old life behind. After what happened with Bella she spent little time with her coven. Going no contact would be no huge loss.

“You’re alright with just leaving us?”Esme asked.

“I will miss some of you but this is an opportunity of a lifetime. It is the first time since Eden was built 50 years ago that they are offering the rest of the world a chance to live there. I saw on the news that even humans have applied.”Rosalie didn’t know anyone who would pass up the chance.

“The only way I wouldn’t go is if Emmet wasn’t allowed to come with me.”Sara Emmet’s mate said.

“They don’t break up mated pairs.”Jasper would have loved to get an invitation. The idea of living with other supernaturals not having to worry about his control would be worth any sacrifice other than losing his mate.

“What did you put in your essay Rosalie?”Alice wanted to know so she could reapply with a better one.

“That’s private.”Rosalie wasn’t going to tell them what she wrote.

“It could help us write better essays if you tell us.”Emmet said.

“All I wrote was the truth about my human life and my vampire life and why I would like the opportunity to live in Eden. I held nothing back. Even the things I’m not proud of.”Rosalie told them.”What did you guys write?”

“I wrote about how useful I could be because of my strength and my want to meet more supernaturals to hang out with.”Emmet told her.

“I wrote about not feeling safe now that supernaturals were known to the world and wanting my mate to make some new friends.”Sara did want Emmet to have more friends.

“I offered my medical expertise and willingness to teach the vampires of Eden the more humane way to feed.”Carlisle was somewhat insulted that he even had to write an essay. His name alone should have gotten him an invitation.

“I talked about my architecture hobby and my willingness to cook for all the shifters that lived there.”Esme hoped that she would get the chance to cook for people as it was always her dream of taking care of others.

“I wrote mine and Jasper’s. I focused on our gifts and how useful they would be to the leaders of Eden.”Alice said.

“I didn’t write an essay. I wrote a demand for an audience with the people in charge.”Edward would never plead his case to anyone.

Emmet laughed.”You actually think that the most powerful people in the world would want to see you?”

“They would be stupid not to meet with me.”Edward said.

“Why is that?”Rosalie couldn’t wait to hear the convoluted answer.

“Because they are not the only powers in this world and there are talks of alliances happening in the future.”Edward told her.

“Edward do not drag us into a war we can’t win.”Jasper could easily see where this was going.

“We can win. The kings have been gathering allies to include human governments.”Edward knew they would win.

“You’re forgetting one problem with that. The gigantic shield that covers all of Eden.”Sara reminded him.

“It can’t block everything.”Edward knew they could figure out how to get around the shield.

“Dude it blocked a nuke.”Emmet thought that was more than enough proof that the shield was unbreakable.

“Also the kings aren’t a threat to anyone. Or are you forgetting that the entire royal guard and most of the lesser guards all fled to Eden. They have no gifted vampires on their side.”Learning that the guard had defected was one of the best things Jasper had ever heard because he didn’t have to fear the kings coming for him and Alice any longer.

“They have been rebuilding their numbers over the last few decades.”Edward told them.

“How do you know all of this?”Rosalie didn’t think that the kings would trust Edward.

“Last year while I was off on my own I stumbled upon a meeting of supernaturals and humans that were speaking of their plans to move against Eden. I joined them and went to a couple meetings until I was called home so that we could all fill out our applications together.”Edward was upset it was Rosalie and not one of his other family members going because Rosalie wouldn’t help him get information he could use to get past their defenses.

“Why didn’t you tell any of us about this?”Carlisle asked.

“It wasn’t relevant until I knew if you were going to get an invitation to Eden or not. Now that you haven’t it’s the perfect chance for you join me and the others.”Edward thought the rest of his family could do a lot for the cause if they joined him.

“You know I’m going to report all this as soon as I get to Eden right?”Rosalie didn’t understand why Edward would tell her what he was doing.

“They aren’t going to listen to you.”Edward wasn’t worried about Rosalie knowing his plan. She was a weak useless person.

“When you tell them can you please mention that myself and Alice want nothing to do with his plans.”Jasper didn’t want him and his mate linked to Edward.

“Us too.”Sara like Jasper didn’t want to get dragged into Edward’s nonsense.

“Yeah I don’t want any kind of retribution for Edward’s actions focused on us.”Emmet may love to fight but he didn’t want to die. That being something that following Edward would lead to.

“No problem.”Rosalie wouldn’t mind protecting her siblings. Minus Edward of course. 

“Did they say anything about you bringing your cars?”Alice asked.

“The email said to leave all motor vehicles behind and that if I want one when I get there it will be provided for me. I’m not sure exactly what that means but I think I’m probably going to be given a car when I get there.”Rosalie was very curious about what kind of car she would get.

“What about a place to live?”Esme wanted to make sure Rosalie had lodging.

“I’m going to be given temporary accommodations to stay in while I go through orientation.”The first thing Rosalie was going to do once she finished settling in was to put on a bikini and spend the day on the beach soaking up the sun. It was possible to do in places other than Eden but Rosalie didn’t feel safe revealing herself as a vampire amongst a mostly human population. It had been 50 years but humans didn’t completely trust supernaturals. Hate crimes going both ways were very common.

“Did it give you any details about the orientation?”Carlisle was very interested in knowing what the people in control of Eden considered must have information.

Rosalie shook her head.”The email just contained the stuff I already told you, a list of things I can’t bring, some items they recommend I bring and an email address for me to email them letting them know where to pick me up when they are ready for me.”

“I wonder who is going to pick you up.”Sara said.

“Do you think it will be a vampire or a shifter?”Alice asked.

“I hope they will be willing to answer some questions.”Carlisle had plans to ask whoever came for Rosalie many questions.

“It won’t matter if they are willing or not. I plan to take the information from their minds.”Edward was going to get all the information he could from the people who came to pick Rosalie up.

“If you screw this up for me I’m going to kill you.”Rosalie would not put up with Edward ruining her chance to live in Eden.

“You should care more about what kind of threat Eden is then moving there.”Edward didn’t pay any attention to Rosalie’s threats. She couldn’t hurt him.

“Eden isn’t a threat to anyone. They don’t even go after the many people who have attacked them. Even though they could.”Jasper knew if they wanted to Eden could probably do a lot of damage with the rumored number of supernaturals they had on their side.

“Do you think they have some kind of military?”Emmet figured they would if they had the royal guard with them.

“Most likely. I mean they used weapons to clear out most of the humans when they took over.”Carlisle said.

“And they wore uniforms.”Sara added.

“I still don’t understand how the group came together. I mean a force being able to take over an entire continent had to be large. They also had to have been putting together the plan and resources to do it for decades because an operation that big doesn’t come together quickly. Even if they did take over country by country they worked fast.”Jasper couldn’t understand how no one caught on.

“What I don’t get is how did whoever was in charge turn the entire royal guard and most of the lesser guard against the kings. It is well known that the kings had some kind of control over them. How did they break it and how did the kings not know that their entire guard was planning on leaving?”That’s the part Rosalie couldn’t figure out and was hoping would get the answer to when she got to Eden.

“Especially because the kings had Chelsea messing with their bonds.”Alice didn’t think anything could overrule Chelsea’s gift.

“It wasn’t just the kings’ guard leaving them either. The Romanians lost a lot of their numbers as well.”Carlisle had been shocked to learn that the former kings subjects abandoned them after being devoted for many millennia.

“That makes it seem like whoever set up Eden had something amazing to offer them if they were willing to leave their lives to start over.”Emmet bet that whoever was in charge gave them good incentives to betray their leaders.

“None of us even know anything about Eden and each of us was willing to go. Not only us but from what is being reported millions of people have put in applications.”Rosalie didn’t care what was on the other side of the shield. Giving up her old life was worth it to even have a chance at something better. She hoped it would give her a chance at happiness without the constant reminder of what happened to Bella that being with her family brought.

“That’s true. Even knowing I would never be able to go back to my old life I would go as long as my mate came with me.”Alice would happily move to Eden with Jasper.

“I would go as well.”Jasper said.

“So would we.”Sara and Emmet had spoken about it when they applied. They both wanted to live with other supernaturals where it was safe.

“I think it’s wrong that I didn’t get picked. My medical expertise is invaluable as I know there are humans living in Eden and I doubt that they have any training set up for doctors or other kinds of professionals that cater to humans.”Carlisle knew that Eden was likely lacking in how they cared for humans and would need people like him to take care of them.

“We don’t know what they have set up. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had more advanced medical techniques than we do. I mean we all heard what the humans who left said. They were offered the chance to stay and were promised if they did that they would be treated equally with the supernatural plus given the resources to thrive as one of the leader’s main goals was better living conditions for both supernaturals and humans.”Sara reminded them.

“Also they gave everyone who left a million dollars to start over. Plus they let them keep the money they had in their bank accounts.”Alice thought that was very generous.

“I wonder how they were able to afford that. I mean that was billions of dollars just for the people leaving.”Emmet said.

“It is my people’s belief that they are the ones responsible for stealing all the gold from Ft. Knox and the various other large banks that were robbed. Plus the hit on private citizen’s accounts.”Edward told them.

“I thought those thefts were credited to former guards. The ones they arrested.”Alice said.

“They were just the fall guys that were released and relocated to another country. The people behind the robberies have never been caught and there are no leads on who did it. Whoever it was left no evidence behind and weren’t even caught on video. The other robberies are still going on and are all done online. Many experts in the tech industry have tried to track who is doing it but they haven’t even gotten close to finding the culprit. As it is I personally wouldn’t trust banks.”Edward wasn’t going to mention that he had been targeted numerous times throughout the decades. Even when he used his aliases.

“Can’t the banks prevent that or get the money back?”Emmet asked.

“Banking is completely digital now. Even if you pulled your money out of the bank you couldn’t spend it anywhere.”Jasper hadn’t seen paper money used in decades.

“I thought that banks employed the smartest people in the world to prevent that from happening. We see all the advertisements every time they update their security.”Esme didn’t like the idea of someone being able to steal the family’s money.

“It’s not a specific bank. That’s why I think it’s someone from Eden. If not then questions would be asked when someone came into a lot of money. Especially when they started to spend it. The fact that there hasn’t been anyone caught making extravagant purchases leads many to believe the thief is from Eden.”Edward agreed with that. It was one of the reasons he wanted to get inside the shield. So he could find out how the person was doing it.

“That at least proves Eden has modern technology.”Sara said.

“I have no doubt that Eden has kept up with the times. Maybe things will be different than we are used to but I don’t think they stopped advancing.”Rosalie expected to be pleasantly surprised when she reached Eden. Hearing her phone ding Rosalie took it out of her pocket seeing that she got a new email. Unlocking her phone she pulled up the app and saw that it was from an unfamiliar email address. Reading it she smiled.”It’s official I’m going to be picked up in two days.”

“Did you get the email?”Alice asked.

“Yes and I need to send one back to tell them how much stuff I’m bringing.”Rosalie quickly sent the message.

“What email address did it come from?”Edward wanted to know so he could pass on the information to his people.

“None of your business.”Rosalie wasn’t going to tell Edward anything.

Edward focused on Rosalie’s thoughts growling when all he heard was German death metal.”Tell me right now Rosalie or I will force it out of you!”

“I’m not telling you anything Edward. Now if you will excuse me I need to hurry up. I haven’t gotten a chance to get all the stuff I wanted out of the garage.”Rosalie ignored Edward and any replies as she made her way to the garage. She wasn’t going to bring her tools because tools were one of the things mentioned not to bring with you on the list given in the acceptance email. That is unless they were specialty tools or had sentimental value. Looking over her unfinished project car Rosalie was somewhat sad that she didn’t get the chance to finish it. She just hoped that when she got to Eden she would be able to pursue her love of automobiles. It had always been her dream to open a mechanic shop but having to pretend to be human had stopped her. Now that she didn’t have to worry about being a vampire it was something she was going to look into. Thinking about the future Rosalie couldn’t help but smile. No matter what awaited her in Eden it would be a hell of a lot better than her current situation. Of that she was certain.
