AO Appropriate Camo

Take a look at the map above of the effectiveness of different camo patterns in different areas of the US. Make sure you have camo, or subdued clothing appropriate for where you live, so when you have to go do the things you will not stick out like a sore thumb.

These are just some of the patterns of course. In the woodland areas, woodland camo, ATACS-FG, and several others would work fine, for arid areas, the ATACS-AU pattern shown would work, as well as MARPAT Desert, Navy AOR1, Tri color desert, and several others would work.

Here are some good patterns to take a look at for patterns applicable for you in your AO:

Wooded Environments:

MARPAT

Woodland

ATACS-FG

CADPAT

Flecktarn

Kryptek Mandrake

Navy AOR2

Woodland DPM

Transitional Environments:

Kryptek Highlander

Multicam

Navy AOR2

Arid Environments:

Desert MARPAT

Navy AOR1

Tri Color Desert

ATACS-AU

Kryptek Nomad

Desert Flecktarn

Desert DPM

This is not an all inclusive list of course, it is just some ideas to get you started, and thinking about what there is out there. Also the patterns listed are all military patterns. Some are also civilian patterns also, but they all fit into the military camo system of attempting to make you look like nothing. Which is different than civilian patterns that for the most part try to make you look like something (tree, branches, etc...).

Comments

I am still playing with multiple camo variations, I am in Kansas and hunt a lot so I utilize that gear as well as others! I always worry about wearing any of the military patterns because I don’t wanna piss anyone off, however I do own some and keep around just in case!

Here in NE Texas, my Marpat work's great.
