I have a maxpedition M-2 waistbag ( a small pouch ) I wear on the side of my belt. It has essentials for one day and covers basic needs. Medical, tools , fire, shelter. Very basic. I am not big on the 2 is one idea ; I follow more the idea of multi functionality. These are EDC items and there is not room for redundancy
All things build on the the core. The EDC pouch is a child of the pack. The pouch has space blanket , the evacuation pack has an SE survivor sleeping bag. One can supplement the other.
