BJJ

The most important thing is who you learn from. When I started in the early 70s there were a lot of paper tigers. They could do forms , look good sparring but could not really fight. A lot of it works only in the dojo. Try it with heavy boots on. Try it on a shifting surface. what your left with are about a dozen things that work for you. I studied 30 years. 22 with the the same teacher. Out of all, that time I have a dozen things that I know will always work for me. The one constant thing is they always end with a throw. Try getting dumped on the cement. Few are going to bounce up. I was never a big fan of tae Kwon do. It just did not seem like it would work. I fought a guy in 73 that was a Vietnam Vet and hard as nails. He could really fight well. He was a no quit kind of guy. When you fought him you knew you were going to be all busted up after and we became friends and trained together.
