Yes, it makes training more affordable. Yes, I know it is not a replacement for training with 5.56, but it does help get some training done when you might not be able to do it otherwise.

Years ago I took my mom to the range for her first time as she felt she needed a firearm. She was nervous with her weapon so I had her shoot 400 rounds with controlled pairs to the target’s head and then chest. After a hundred of these course of fire cycles, she wasn’t nervous anymore. She felt a little like a commando.
