Big box hardware stores sell polycarbonate and acrylic sheets. FYI it takes 3/4" of polycarbonate to stop most 9mm. Ideally you'd want to layer the sheets polycarbonate/acrylic/polycarbonate. Acrylic is harder but cracks much easier.
