Same reasons the military and law enforcement use nine and .556. Because almost everyone can handle the recoil. I prefer 10 and .308 but not everyone is 6โ 2โ and 230 or bigger

Personally I still prefer the .357mag revolver but I do have a 9mm service pistol as well. Both are Ruger as I prefer the brand. I used to be able to hit 10 inch squares with the revolver, open sites, four inch barrel at 50 yards, 5 out of 6 shots in under 30 seconds. I doubt I could even see a 10 inch target at 50 yards anymore. And as far as a preferred target area I always trained center mass but preferred solar plexus to groin shots if I had time to choose because...well, I'm just a sick old fart and back then I guess I was a sick young fart...lol but honestly with a soft nose .357 slug hitting anywhere from groin to head is just devastating.
