I am building a "MAG" starting with my own family (wife, son, DIL & her relatives). If I hadn't learned a LOT about leadership from being a dad to an adult child, I'm not sure this would have been possible: it takes all my insight into guiding a team to present ideas to my extended family in a way that helps build consensus and alignment on goals. We are planning to move to the country in a couple years, and that is a MAJOR issue, as we will be committing our lives and resources to each other, and become very interdependent on each other. "It's all about give-and-take" - boy, have I learned about THAT one!
Yes, it's a lot of work, requires a lot of patience and the ability to compromise. I know it will pay off in the long run. But my, does it challenge me to develop my leadership skills - "because I said so" is just NOT a winning plan in this situation, you know? ;-)
