Don't let the zero special effects budget on this movie fool you. Roger Corman definitely understood what production value was. To the extent that he soon visited the Soviet Union to buy the rights to some big budget nationalistic sci-fi epics made there, so as to strategically re-edit them for the domestic American audience...
