Mardi Gras is upon us
Added 2020-02-16 20:31:44 +0000 UTCCarnival season is in full swing here in New Orleans, with Fat Tuesday just over a week away. It's always a busy time for me, but especially this year.
At the moment, I'm gearing up for the crowdfunding campaign of The Sudbury Devil, which is the feature film about 17th century witchfinders that I mentioned in my last update. It's super gratifying and exciting to see the project come together, but a ton of work... I'm currently teaching Original Early Modern English Pronunciation (the Witchfinder General voice) to our actors, collaborating with Brandon again for the video announcing the Indiegogo campaign (he's going to vouch for my efforts at historical accuracy, lol), and coordinating things with the tailors in England who are making most of the costumes.
Sadly, with all that's going on, I can't promise a video this week, but I have some fun ones in the docket. Next Tuesday, the Witchfinder General will preach against Mardi Gras... then on March 1st, the announcement video with Brandon, which will hopefully be funny and interesting in its own way... and then the Twitter outrage over Richard Dawkins's eugenics comment has given me some inspiration for another Nazi video.
Oh, and Brandon and I have also been talking about making a Barry Lyndon video together, which would be an awesome combination of my film history knowledge and his 18th century knowledge. It'll probably be after he finishes his Patriot reviews though, so... maybe in ten years?
