Johnny can't wait to see you all
Added 2022-05-26 06:33:28 +0000 UTCHad a bit of a rough week, which set work back a bit. But the edit's chugging along, and I'm shooting that Klaus cameo on Saturday. I was originally going to open the episode with it, but have decided to make it a mid-credits scene that will come up after the ending title card. It'll be the start of a narrative element to the series that will serve as a kind of unobtrusive thematic support to the educational stuff (as well as engage in cheap fan service and lead to a slam-bang conclusion in Episode 10).
I've been working solely on this since I shot the main part of the episode, but sadly I think it is still a couple weeks away from completion. I get very precious and perfectionist-y with everything I do, but especially with Checkmate Lincolnites because I'm always very aware that this series means a lot to people.
This one isn't as laugh-out-loud funny as some of the others, but in terms of research and the thesis of it, I'd say it's the best so far. And the scope is pretty massive, it covers four score and seven years of history – in fact, it has very little to do with the events of 1861-1865 at all, but puts them in context in what I think is a pretty illuminating way.
