August Concept Art
Added 2023-07-30 17:06:50 +0000 UTCI forgot to add the concept art to the posts previously, so I thought I'd post it here. We don't always have concept art that corresponds to the sculpts, as Erin goes off-script quite a lot. But here are the ones that were directly inspired - big thanks to Paul Ferret for his awesome sketches!! Paul actually creates around 20-30 sketches per month for us, and we pick and choose between our huge catalog of ideas to form a collection. Erin frequently uses the sketches just as a guideline or inspiration for a very different sculpt, perhaps taking a detail or element from one or another. This is part of the reason why we can't increase the number of sculpts we give per month; because this patreon is really about Erin's art and vision, and he develops many of the ideas as he's sculpting, it's hard to pass the concepts off to another sculptor.

2023-08-04 20:28:47 +0000 UTCXD I think that very few freelancers are willing to put in the time and effort that Erin does! All the fur and skin textures are done by hand, for example, whereas other sculptors are more likely to use a premade alpha or brush pack. Premade textures at best look generic, at worst look mechanical or fake. But they save hours and perhaps days of sculpting time, so I can understand why people use them.

2023-07-31 05:53:01 +0000 UTCThe concept art is awesome. I subscribe to other creators that have bigger teams, and every month you can tell the really great sculpts from the B team (and sometimes the D team!) I prefer the consistent style and quality of Cobramode!
