It's a neat alternative! Though I guess the down side is that it basically adds another character to the artwork for the "inside" view, but it's fun to see the full put-together outer view. (And also the inner and outer reaction shots!)

I know you've shown cutaways and such before, but not as often the side-by-side. It's interesting, because I know you make an effort to always drop clues that the crossdressed character is actually male, but this is different because it lets "her" look more real and the viewer still gets what's going on. Fun solution!
