I've just finished the Legion review and it's exporting at the moment. The RTX 4090 and 4080 replacements from XMG arrived today, so I'll get into the 4080 laptop testing tomorrow. I recently retested the 4080 desktop, so already half of the work is done.
Once that 4080 laptop data is collected I'll also be able to compare the 4070 and 4080 laptop GPUs fairly. Not sure when this will happen, but given the lackluster 4070 performance and the fact that only 4080/4090 seem to give decent uplifts this generation, I'm interested to find out if the 4080 is worth spending extra for.
Of course some time later I'll also test the 4090 replacement laptop to do the same for 4080 vs 4090 - Basically is it worth spending even more to go for the 4090. Not sure when exactly these videos will happen, but I'll be working on the testing for it starting tomorrow.
In terms of laptop testing for reviews, we're getting started with the MSI GF63 that I bought with RTX 4050, Legion Pro 5i with RTX 4070, and MSI GP77 with RTX 4060. Unfortunately the Legion laptop has been very difficult due to some sort of widespread instability issue that's currently plaguing laptops from all brands, so we might put it to the side until there's a fix as it's too frustrating to work on right now.
Fortunately, the GF63 being older 12th gen and DDR4 memory doesn't seem affected. We'll also start retesting the 3050 GF63 I bought last year to do a 3050 vs 4050 comparison - so lots of work ahead of us now that we're back from the short Melbourne break!
