A different kind of post...

So... there are some changes coming in the next month or so to the channel.

My wife and I are going to be selling our house. It's a bit bitter sweet, as we've lived here since 2010, and this is the longest I've ever been in one spot. But, the housing market here sucks. At the moment, we have nearly $100k in equity in our house, but beyond that are living paycheck to paycheck. I have stayed to my word that funds from Patreon and Amazon go directly back into content, and I've reinvested a large chunk of my earnings back into the channel.

This is not a 'we can't afford our house' situation, we just want to cash out and see if we can move into the next phase in our lives. Ideally, when we buy property, I'm going to be building a studio at the same time, and making this full time YouTube thing a reality. We're going to be moving into my in-law's house for the next ~6 months while we look for a suitable spot.

It is a massive step into the unknown, and it is going to present some challenges with the channel. I'm going to see if I can convert the in-law's garage into a suitable shooting space. If that's not able to happen, I'm going to look at leasing a studio space nearby.

Good things are going to come of this. I'm hoping that inside of a year, we own the property we want, and I have the space I need to continue to grow the channel. I'm hoping during this transition, content does not slow down. In fact, I'm hoping to start producing more than ever and keep this thing moving forward.

I want to thank you all for supporting the channel. Helping grow this awesome community. Watching and sharing my content. And (very soon) buying my merch ;-) It really is because of you all that I'm able to even consider making this move.

There're going to be some growing pains, but I'm hoping to continue producing content you want to see, and to make this dream work. You all rock. And here goes nothing.

You are a wonderful creator and I commend you just for putting in the effort to entertain us, although you probably enjoy it and its better than a 9 to 5. With that said, you have a great community as well, maybe there are some channel related things that you could have a dedicated volunteer group handle? I for one would be more than happy to help where I could, but you probably have people in the Patreon that are skilled in many aspects of video production. Just a thought, thanks again Jeff. I only ever have positive thoughts for the well being of Craft Computing no matter what.
