Floatplane go brrrrrrr......
Added 2020-10-23 22:50:49 +0000 UTCHey all,
Thanks everyone for your continued support of Craft Computing. The influx of Patrons in recent months has been truly awesome, especially as I've made the transition to Full Time.
Discord may have a slightly different look as of today for a couple reasons...
First, we discovered the Patreon Bot, which controls Discord access for you fine people, has not been functioning beyond inviting people into the server. This means the Patron role has not been assigned, and if Patronage has stopped, the users have not been removed.
Today we worked on correcting the bot, and from here on out, everything *should* be fixed. Role colors have been changed as well... Red for Patrons, Pink for Discord Boosters, and Blue for Floatplaners!
Yes, that's right, Craft Computing is now LIVE on Floatplane. What does that mean for you, my loyal patrons? The perks between both Patreon and Floatplane will be exactly the same. Both platforms will have access to the Discord with ANY tier contribution. I am exploring a couple different perks for higher paying members of both platforms, although nothing is set in stone yet.
The most obvious perk that most do on Floatplane is early access to videos, but I've never been one to bank content days or weeks in advance. Usually, I work on one or two videos at a time, and post them when they're finished.
I think instead I'm going to do an exclusive video or two per month. This will be behind-the-scenes videos, or content that I would not normally post to the channel. Things like Retro systems, LEGO builds, Cocktail tutorials, and more.
If you already are a Patron, there is no major incentive to move over to Floatplane, or vice versa. Both programs will have the same perks for roughly the same costs. Patreon will remain per video. with Discord access at $1, Floatplane will be a per-month subscription starting at $2. I will be implementing higher tiers on both platforms for the exclusive videos access, pricing likely to be decided on later this week. (And input is appreciated here... it's your money, what do you want for it?)
Thank you again for your amazing support of the channel and my livelihood. Hit me up with any questions, comments, concerns, etc. I'm always happy to hear from you.
