helloOoOOoO!!! here's what i've been up to lately!!

i'm pretty sure i'm done with all my animenyc merch, so i've just been having a good time relaxing and doodling. for the last two years i've been scrambling up until the end, so i feel a little weird not doing anything LOL so i keep having this weird nagging feeling i should be doing more o(-(

the first pic has been a rollercoaster of emotions because, like most of the things i do apparently, i had absolutely no clue what to do with it or how i wanted it to look. i was honestly gonna scrap it because i thought it looked really boring, but instead me and a friend spent an hour or two trying to create a weird halftone effect that only took like two minutes to apply LMAO so now it looks kinda boring, but not as boring as it could've been.

i've been obsessed with cmyk halftones or whatever they're called and tried to recreate the effect in clip but nothing i did looked right....

it honestly didn't occur to me i could've just used a filter and called it a day until last night o(-( i felt so silly......at least it looks good....

nothing really interesting to say on the second pic. they're just inks i'll color soon!! lately, inking has felt like such a chore...i wanted to spice it up a bit and do some shaky lines i can be messy with. i like them a lot! i also like doing them and that's what's most important <:")

third pic is just some characters i came up with. they're far from final so their designs will probably change a bit later. i was thinking about halloween stores and how they seemingly like to pop out of nowhere, so i came up with this idea that there's a monster/halloween(?) dimension and every year they come here to set up shop at different locations and sell seasonal goodies. the story would follow a ragtag team of monsters experiencing the biggest fright of all: retail. dealing with hordes of customers while trying to hide the fact they're real monsters sounds like it has the potential to be a lot of fun!

none of the characters are really fleshed out yet, but i've had the idea that the girl in the middle is a vampire who hates her job and desperately wants to be fired, but her father owns a lot of stock in the company so they're too afraid to. the only other character i have a vague backstory for is the woman at the end. i imagine her to be someone who works for a competing company and tries to sabotage our main crew (and usually fails).

not pictured is another employee who i couldn't come up with a nice enough design for so i asked my sister to do it for me. isn't she SO CUTE!!!
