John DeTrolio

where is the full length for this episode?

Kayla LaRae

I only recently clocked that interaction myself lol I see you Mai.

Yeah John’s right, I do think she was hurt when she said what she said, then immediately played it off. Because I don’t think there’s ever a scene referenced either where Ursa directly calls Azula a monster, or acts like she doesn’t love her. I think Azula… believes that her mother thought she was a monster. I think she almost misinterpreted the kindness her mother showed Zuko when they were kids as a sleight against her, and as a result began behaving in a way that demanded attention. However the things she did were bad, so the only attention she got from those actions was negative attention from her mother. Azula… man. Thinking about it, she really acted up a LOT as a kid, and I wonder if it’s because she was trying to get her mother’s attention, but never felt like she got it, that she’s like this. Her father gave her the the positive attention she wanted, but only when she was being cruel, or vicious, or conniving; and then after Azulon passed away, and Ursa vanished, Azula’s natural progression was toward viciousness and cruelty, because compassion and kindness are traits her father never values. She’s a victim too. I think that’s why she didn’t say anything about the picture being burnt, and knew where to find Zuko. The way she invites him down to the beach is almost like commiserating. “This place is depressing.” I wonder what Azula thought about on HER way up to the house… That would be kind of interesting to see

Mai did give Azula some side-eyes when she interrupted her make out session with Zuko lol

Jackie

i think a lot of people tend to forget that Azula is a victim of Ozai's parenting/abuse too. it definitely doesn't excuse her of her actions and her beliefs but yeah also, seeing her try to socialize with other teens is absolutely hilarious

Tori Dingeldein

Hahah no problem, I’m John (on the left) Steve is on the right!

John DeTrolio

Omg I meant the guy on the left my bad yeah I definitely agree

Baliplaygirl Kji

Yeah, we were both in agreement on that, my point was just the fact that Azula didn’t have her mothers love all the time like Zuko did, which is why zuko does have that caring side to him. If Azula was brought up by both parents she probably wouldn’t be as horrible as she is lol - John

John DeTrolio

The guy on the right is definitely right about Azula she was mostly raised by a monster so it only makes sense that grew up to be one. Also Azula is only 14 so I think it’s not right to immediately call her evil I feel like therapy would work wonders for her.

Baliplaygirl Kji

Ah yes. Avatar can even do a bachelor in paradise episode and it’s still stellar
