Oh snap we said the same thing lol

Okay so I believe the only way an earthbender, from a pseudo-scientific standpoint, could bend wood is if the wood has petrified. The large mineral deposits in their trunks could theoretically be bent, but if it’s just wood, there would be nothing to manipulate. It would make more sense for a waterbender to be able to bend the wood, but only if it’s living wood. No water to bend in wood that’s been dried and milled. if the wood is inert, it is not bendable

LOL I had to immediately stop watching and come tell you I laughed pretty hard at, “welcome back to the channel guys I’m John“

Andrew G

Yes, thank god they did! Lol

Haha I was convinced that he did it on purpose! - John

Steve is right.. sokka didn't know katara was down their in the water. He was sharing feelings he has never shared to anyone before.

Can’t wait for you guys to get to the next few episodes! I’ve never thought about the possibility of Sokka setting up his talk with Toph knowing that Katara was nearby. I guess my interpretation is similar to John’s; I think it was just a coincidence that Katara was nearby.

John, great catch with Roku's earthbending master being the earthbender in the intro!! obligatory fun fact: he was the original design/idea for Aang's earthbending teacher but they scrapped the idea to make way for Toph. and thank fucking god they did lmfao! i'm glad they still found a way to incorporate him

Yeh i think she bends the little pieces of earth within the metal to make it move, since most metals aren't purified so much so that there's no trace of earth within. Wood has no earth in it so that's why it can't be manipulated

I’m excited now that you’re getting closer to the end! It only gets better and better. Earth benders can only bend rock/stone (mineral based substances.) The connection Toph makes to metal bending makes sense since it’s processed/purified earth (like how iron ore is purified to make steel.) However, if you’re interested in bending plants, you may remember the swamp benders from Book 2. They showed that water benders can bend certain plants that retain a lot of water. I don’t think there’s a way for any bender to control dry wood used for building though.
