They just think she’s particularly hard to crack, so they keep trying to do it anyway cause they don’t know she’s blind because of her seismic sense. At what point would they give up? Aahhh that’d be hilarious

I guess the system itself is not too worried about the lower class/ refugees mixing about and generally having the understanding that the war exists, but they don’t speak of it and that they are safe behind the wall. I guess maybe those of middle to upper class would live in blissful ignorance or denial.

2021-07-15 05:25:03 +0000 UTCThe cat-owl is a pun! In Chinese, owl (猫头鹰) translates to cat-headed birds of prey. The Dai Li (代理) also means agent in Chinese. I would say that Ba Xing Se is modeled after ancient China, from the walls (The Great Wall of China), to the elusive palace (The Forbidden City), to the Da Li (secret agents), and Long Feng controlling the King. Back then, Emperor dies early (probably due to stress) and would pass their throne down to their child. While the child Emperor learns to rule and until he comes of age, the country would be under the rule of the regent. You can imagine the power struggle amongst the nobles to gain regency, and how much influence the regent would have over the Emperor. I guess such propaganda etc is not unlike what we have in modern China, but it would also be naive to not expect certain government messaging even in the most free and liberal society.
