That's basically Azula, she seized an opportunity and struck Aang while he was "powering up" and killed him till katarta saved him. Also Zuko all his life wanted his fathers love and wanted to go back home, the minute that opportunity came to his lap, he took it. Some people say its like people with drug addiction, you're clean for a while but then you have just a little taste of it, you're back in it and its an addiction. Thats basically Zuko.
