The beginning of this episode takes place in season 1. Dan and Reese talk about Dan and Chloe being separated. So they are not yet divorced. And Dan talks Chloe into getting a divorce at the end of season 1. And you can clearly tell by the way he talks about Lucifer that he doesn't like him at all- which is also consistent with Season 1 Dan. In season 2 Dan and Lucifer start to form a sort-of-maybe-friendship which grows stronger throughout that season and season 3. And you are absolutely right, the last 3 episodes are reeeaally good. The upcoming one is also okay (not great but still solid and entertaining) and the two episodes after that one are awesome! It's towards the three-quarter mark when things start to slow down a bit.
